Bob, I am sorry that you had to find out about Mark the same way I did. But I'm glad you have a new home and can continue to promote the hobby. It's the reason I do what I do and I'm glad that HeliFreak can help you to continue to do what you do.

Together we can hopefully make the hobby easier and less confusing for everyone.

I've been reloading the Trex forum at RR for awhile this morning. Every time a post dealing with this issue is posted, it's quickly deleted just minutes later.

Mark's over-obsession with trying to control marketing and advertising revenue is one thing. His deleting ALL posts by a user out of spite is quite another.

A forum is supposed to be a place for like-interested people to come together and share information for the benefit of the community as a whole. It's obvious to me that Mark has no interest in the community from which he makes his living. This is simply a business to him. Bob had put thousands of posts on RR trying to help others with problems and that information is now gone forever.

The TrexTuning homepage now carries this story. Mark believes that by deleting posts people won't know what's happened.....wrong :)

Thanks trextuning.....you are doing the heli community a GREAT favor by posting the story on the TrexTuning homepage. Thanks from all of us!

[quote="DebianDog"]Turned on RR? :lolol 11,000 users? How many active in the last year? Last time I bothered to count it was around 1400.

The numbers that Mark states directly affects the advertiser $$$ amount. So of course he is going to inflate numbers to make if fit.

I recently sold a setup on RR that had over 800 views, but only 4 interested people. That's probably how it really goes with the regular posts on RR.

I'm glad to see Finless has moved over... :badair:

That is too cool. Mark is going to have a temper tantrum when he sees that.

It's funny how he thinks he has full control over the members of his forum.

Wow..... I just got up and got here to see such wonderful people giving wonderful support.

Marks messages about me attacking RR is bull! All I did was point out in a post that Marks is blocking ALL URL with the words helifreak, rcgroups, rcuniverse, etc.

The bottom line was he would not post my DHX build videos so I went somewhere else that would post them. That is Will and Helifreak. So then I wanted to share that they were going up over on RR and where people could find them. BAM account got deleted!

Folks Mark and I chatted over the phone about this about 3 weeks ago. That is people sponsoring me to do build videos for helicopters. What this means is they send me the heli kit ONLY for free and in return I do a full build video. In addition a water mark is in the corner of the video of the company that sponsored the video like helidirect.com. I think that’s fair don’t you all?

Well Mark didn’t like this as it was Marketing! Didn’t make sense to me since the video is instructional and NO WHERE do I say anything about how good the heli is, you should go buy it, sales pitches, etc.... It's purely an instructional video like all my videos!

3 weeks ago when I brought this up with him he said "This is new ground and I don’t know what to do about it!"

Well I guess I now know what he decided to do about it!

Watch my HDX 450 vids and you all tell me if they have new gone to Marketing in nature?

All I can say is I think he screwed the pooch on this decision. I am not trying to brag but I am pretty sure my videos brought a major amount of viewers to RR and now he will loose that traffic. I certainly hope I can now get all those people here to Helifreak!!!

Yep, that's pretty similar to the PM Mark sent me. Didn't buy it then, either.

I've followed you over, Bob! I was vaguely panicked when I thought I wouldn't be able to find you again, but thankfully, another RR member let me know about your exodus to the Freak.:)

I've been returning the favor by sending PMs to anybody that posts about "Where's Finless?" Couldn't believe that "helifreak" is a banned word, even in PMs!

Hi Finless, I just got this PM from Mark at RR:

Re Topic: What happened to finless!

Hi gwk

Finless has moved on. His final posts were attacks. His final actions appear to be calculated. In summary, he wants to take his marketing neutral help videos to the next level by turning them into commercials. He has formed a new alliance with a specific hobby shop vendor and is in the process of creating a commercial for them.

Beyond that I cannot say much here because I am very surprised at the way Finless turned on RR. What is interesting is that I have not communicated with the guy for weeks. His final posts implied I did.

I worked with him to get his help videos uploaded as a special favor with the clear understanding that they are to be marketing neutral. There was conversation about him using RR to eventually sell his videos via free RR advertising.

The Finless issue must go away quietly. RR's policy is its strong point and no one member out of 11,000+ a month is going to change or extort it.

This is just plain silly. A new thread started over there and i was able to get one post in and all it said was "This thread will be deleted in 5,3,3,2,..." and I got this pm shortly after I posted and he deleted the thread.

I think everyone should let RR's sponsors know what they think about RR. If sponsoring RR hurts thier business, then they may pull their $$ out. I know if I ran a business and my customers let me know that they will not buy a product from me until I pulled my RR sponsorship, I would listen.

Seems like the best way to fight greed is to hit it in the pocket book.

For those that still have RR accounts, just help others find Finless Bob by sending a nice little PM to whomever you see make a "Where's Finless?" thread, just so they can find him and his videos again.

Looks like I have a new home now. I too am following Bob and his videos. They helped me build my first heli that when I went outside to test hover it the first time, it hovered dead center without touching a single trim. It was so impressive to the clup president here that he has me repairing and resetting his bird. All I can say is, "Thank you Bob" and hope one day to be back in y'alls area and buy him a Dr. Pepper. The only problem with that scenario is, I'm an insurance adjuster and the only reason to be over there is when y'all have a natural catastrophe.

There are now posts on RCGroups and TrexTuning that talk about this issue and point people to HeliFreak. Keeping information up on RR is going to be impossible as Mark is deleting posts almost immediately. Hopefully people that are interested will find the information on one of the other forums.

I tried to post this on RR, and minutes later it was deleted!!!

Glad to join you over here, Bob! :D

They even removed the original Topic ID while I was typing this!!!!

What possible reason could they have for removing one of the most friendly, helpful, giving, influential people on this board?

His information, dedication to this hobby, and willingness to help has pushed this hobby and improved the performance of the Trex to the next level. Align should be paying him for pushing their product to higher levels.

I think they owe us an explanation. I hate politics and remove myself from them as much as possible, and this is a perfect example of why.

I posted on RR and found that helifreak is a dirty unallowed word. So I posted it with spaces added.

That got me a nice PM from RR.

Thank You finless for helping me and so many others.

I'm glad you got it in, but it didn't stay up for long. I replied to your post and then it was gone. I also got a PM from Mark with the canned response he is sending out to everyone. That's alright, this looks like a nice place here and I can come here without worrying about who I mention or what site I saw what on so looks like I have a new home.
