Hmmmm...I think MR might be getting the point. I started a thread this morning called "What happened to Finless" and I figured either it would get closed immediately or I would be banned, or both. Neither has happened. He did, however, change the thread title to just "What Happened?". Could be he's starting to notice the lower traffic and post count. :D

I just wanted to also thank Finless for his videos and contributions. This HOBBY is supose to be enjoyable, although that is not always the case the videos made it more so for me. The videos made the set up of my se very simple, and answered many questions. I am now flying a great bird instead of working out bugs and correcting problems. This hobbys is suppose to be about helping each other, and the fun of flying. Finless has helped me tremendously, and he has got me flying quicker, and better. Being in business, I do not see that finless did anything wrong on that other forum, oh I forgot you can actually mention the competion here, Run Ryder. Again, thanks Bob. This is my first post, and just would like to say hello.

Well Mark didn’t like this as it was Marketing! Didn’t make sense to me since the video is instructional and NO WHERE do I say anything about how good the heli is, you should go buy it, sales pitches, etc.... It's purely an instructional video like all my videos!

Watch my HDX 450 vids and you all tell me if they have new gone to Marketing in nature?

Technically, any mention of a specific product is marketing (good and bad).

I believe commercial marketing inherently biases playing up the good and down playing, if not hiding the bad.

Finless' Trex Video's? No arguement - product specific. Commercial bias? I don't think so. The fact that the vids made buying a Trex an easier decision.... It was Align's good fortune Finless' vids took marginal documenttion and made it understandable for the masses.

Let's hypothetically say Finless is on Align's payroll. So what? There is no charge for those vids. If I buy Microsoft Excel and have to go to Border's to BUY a book to be able to practically use Excel - that's ethically edgy on Microsoft's part. That's not he case with Trex and Finless' vids.

A commercial? If the Finless' Align ESC mod was a method by which Align "corrects" a major manufacturing defect - that's edgy - but Finless did not and does not gloss over the defect and rebadge it as a "feature" he calls Align out on it flat out. The vid saved alot of users grief.

Here's an example of my mastery of the obvious - the fact that Finless vids drew hundreds/thousands of users to RR - that's marketing.

With HDX being a paying advertiser on RR - hosting vids for HDX would have should have been a no-brainer. So what if HDX gave a kit to Finless gratis - that's just smart business. If I were Align, I'd have signed Finless to an exclusivity contract and pimped RR to boot. What little I know of Finless as a psycho helo hobbyist - he wouldn't have done it anyway.

I guess money changes things - but RR seems to have played their hand very badly - helifreak swooped like the Warren Buffet of hobbyist website seems to have gotten the deal of the century (oops, product specific mention?). I'm no web analyst - but it sure seems obvious to me the activity on RR took a big hit based on anectdotal evidence.

The only thing that pissed me off with no more Finless on RR, I'm not a Senior Heliman anymore! ;) Boo hoo. It's like breaking my hand and asking the doctor if I can every play the violin again - despite the fact I never played to begin with........ Guess I have to start ALL over again here... but once a nobody - always a nobody! and proud of it too!

Heck - I was rated a Senior Heliman - I was suprised, I had assumed it was based upon some sort of answer to question ratio or intelligence of answers, versus # of posts..... truth be known, I'm a moron regardless of my Heliman rating.

Hi Bob, I'm a total newbie and whilst surfing over the last two weeks for info on my next intended machine (a Trex SE natch') I came across your brilliant set-up video guides on RR. Imagine my horror when just today my 'favourites list' couldn't find you!!! Thankfully a search on your handle came up with this site and now I've joined it. Anyhow, sorry to hear you had a bad time with Rough Ryder, glad I didn't join his site - I'm a member of several sites on the Net and occaisionally you get these mini Hitlers wielding their little bit of petty power. As long as your followers believe in you, that's the real power...... Many thanks again for taking the time and trouble to create and post genuine help for us noobs, please keep up the good work - I for one shall be following your videos closely during my Trex construction.

I must have signed up here a while back (along with other forums) but I've not posted much (at all?). Being alerted to the LUDICROUS actions of MH / Ar*eH*LE / Hitler (I paraphrase other foks contributions) brought me over to look and I think I'm gonna hang out here some more.

I spend a bit of time on RCGroups and (infrequently) RCUni ... Trex is my main RC playground so I hope this will be an interesting forum.

I moved too was clive45 on the other site. Things have slowed down over there and things are not getting deleted quite so fast. I had to sign in again and confirm that I accept the rules which have been changed a bit I think, then he delete things and people with a bit more peace of mind.
He must be hopping around because he has shot himself in the foot.

Well, I too have now come over to see what was going on and now understand why things have basically went dormant in the "other" neighborhood. My whole purpose of going to a particular site is for information and to see the mods and fixes along with the latest and greatest. When creativity is killed you can easily figure out where it's going to go............. I shouldn't be surprised as I had a post just asking about the best place to get Futaba GY-401s and it got censored.................Go figure...........??

There is nothing to work out when you are sucker punched. RR worked with the guy to upload and serve his (marketing neutral) help videos. There was even talk of helping him with free RR advertising to resell DVD’s.

There is more going on here than meets the eye.

The offending member wanted to change the dynamics on how RR maintains its economic balance between members and advertisers. His new scheme was to create non sanctioned video commercials. He would get free stuff for the effort.

RR said no. Two weeks later the member jumped ship without warning and then went on the attack. The member miscalculated RR’s response. What’s interesting is that the member says RR is acting illegally. He argues that RR is stifling his ability to compete.

The funny thing is that it would be cheaper to buy him off with free kits to avoid all this time wasting turmoil. RR is not going to renew certain advertising because of this and regrets deleting thousands of posts.

Please let’s get back to discussing RC helicopters and not site moderation issues.
