Hey guys...

I'm going to be maidening my 700 in a couple weeks or so(as soon as Spartan sends me a new gyro) and I just wanted to get a couple quick questions out of the way...

1) I'm running a YS91SR... What is the optimal headspeed with this motor?

2) Using an infrared temp gun on the motor, where on the motor should I measure temp, and what temp should I aim for, for optimal power.

I can tune a motor by feel/smoke but I just want to make sure I've got this one right. My first .90 and all.

Well the head speed should be 1850 to 1950 depending on pipe used. With the 700 gear ratio that puts the motor at the rated RPM and power band. I know some guys like to run higher than this, so this is just my preference.

As for the temps... Honestly I don't know as I use the finger in the backplate test myself and the carb smart. It will also depend on where you measure the temp, backplate or head..... Someone else will know though......

The 91 are much easier to start, setup and tune than the 50 - warm but not hot on the backplate is about right - you'll get the hang of it quick
