COOKIEULT70,
I own three of 'em (along with an SE, and a HDX 450SE)... they fly great, and are a bit less costly to rebuild.
Let us know how yours goes.

Hi everybody :)
Thank you very much for your video's.
Great job Bob, and many thanks
i succeed my build, the bird flown perfectly today and i can now help my friends to build theirs(1 SE,2 hdx450,1xl) your vids are priceless and very helpfull :noteworthy thank you Sir.
which motor pinion do you use with a ALIGN 3550kv/35 ESC/325mm carbon blades/-10,-5,0,+5,10 pitch? with the 13T i fly 6mins/8mins NORM/IDLE 1/2.
thanks
bye

Yep.... that is what I use the 13T pinion. Best power for 3D and flight times.
If you just hovering and miuld stuff then 11T pinion is good for a bit longer times but you wont get the raw power for harder 3D.

Hi bob :)
i use the 13t,lot of power for 3D :) but my lipos(seems)are hot and don't smell good( like burning tires)but motor/ESC are well .
that's what i'm asking, maybe my ESC set up /throttle curve is wrong?
-no brake
-mid timing
-mid discharge rate 65%
-soft start
-quick throttle response
lipos:1700 20c APLUS+ ALIGN 2200 18c
IDL1 thr-curve:
1:100
2:85
3:80
4:85
5:100
IDL2:
100
97
95
97
100
what's wrong?
thanks
Finless

Well the 1700 packs are alittle small for this kind of demand but the Align 18C should be fine and not getting hotter than about 120. Beforew going Flight Power I ran those fine with the same config you have.
Your curves seem fine but I run
idle 1 100,95,90,95,100
idle 2 100% flat!

once again your vids are great :noteworthy

If things are getting hot make sure your pinion and belt are not too tight. The head should spin freely per my maintanance video.

I followed each steps of your vids :) the head spin freely, the pinion gear mesh is correct, maybe the belt tension is too tight, gonna check it out .
i'm sure everything's alright(check twice and more) just need to make the motor/ESC mod as per your vids and control the temperature with a thermo gun.
i will know the true temperature of all my stuff.
thanks for your advise

Bob, would it be OK to build the XL CDE by following the XL HDE build videos? This is my first heli other than the blade CP that i am learning on right now.

Just got back from my first flight with my SA. Man this thing is WAY more stable than my Blade CP Pro.
BIG BIG thanks to Bob for the CCPM vids, the servo vid, the electronics vid, and the auto clutch vid(<---don't ask  ). Oh and the 9Z vid too.

I must say that I downloaded the videos' and they are great. I used some of them to double check my set-up, and found some issues I always had, and now they are fixed.

Bob, I've got a xmseller carbon frame. I just got the new blue tail drive gear, but I need to either pull the drive pulley or the bearing and gear from the other side to sandwich it between the support frames. Can I just use a pinion puller to do this, and which do I pull?
Finless

Yes a pinion puller works best. In a pinch a C clamp and a socket will also work.

Bob:
I just bought a Super Frame STK from Helidirect. I will build my T-Rex XL CDE for the first time. Should I follow the video of how to build the T-rex from the HDX450 section or the T-Rex SE section. I ask this question because my new frame provides direct link to swash as the SE frame.
Thanks

Bob what will the timing be for the AON motor2815 3500 and the Medusa 3400 motors?
Finless

No idea... I never used those motors.
Best to ask in the Trex forum.

Another happy customer!! :D Thanks for your great video. I flown in the 80's and 90's.. quit around 99 and just got back into helis again. Electric, CCPM, ESC are all new to me. Your video helped out tremendously. THANKS!!

I too, would like to thank you for all your videos. You REALLY have a gift for this.
I wish though that I could do some of things as easily as you make it look.
Thanks again,

Bob,
I'm not sure if I should be asking this here... but hope you can give me a hand.
Having some problems with 35G ESC. I just finished assembling my Trex 450SE after viewing every one of your video with stock motor and stock 35G ESC and Apex 11.1V 2100mAh 15C battery. Using a JR PCM10X radio with Hitec HS65MG on the Cyclic and Futaba 401 Gyro with a S9650 tail servo.
Programed the ESC according to your video and upon normal boot up, got the setup confirmation beeps and all other gear working 100%. However, after I spin up the rotor right above half stick ready for hover (throttle should be approx 70% to 80% of ESC power) and the bird just about to lift off the ground, my receiver would go DEAD completely and the ESC will spin up a little more lifting the bird a few more inchs off the ground for approx 2-3 more seconds before the ESC shuts off the power to the motor as well.
What I found out is the power to the receiver is cut a few seconds before the power to the motor is cut right around 70% to 80% power. After this happens... the ESC beeps at approx 2 second interval. After a minute or so... the receiver power is available again while the motor power remains unavailable while the ESC keeps on beeping once every 2 second.
Trying to figure out what the single beep every 2 second means and why is the power to receive being cut? Is my ESC overheating? Is my battery not fully charged? (using MRC 977 charger and reads 12.45V after charge) Do I have a defective 35G ESC?
BTW... is the 35G's BEC 4.8V or 6V? I am using an old JR PCM receiver that is 4.8V I beleive... I wonder if this can be the problem.
Thanks for your help.
Ken

The 35"G" speed control is 4.8V. Align does have a 35"X" or something like that. It is 6V.
