Does anybody have any pictures of a 9650 mounted up on a 450 SE. I've got mine mounted but have got some question marks around it--it's setup using the forth hole on the servo arm and I think I saw somewhere that the linkage needs to be the on the 2nd hole. If it needs to be the 2nd hole, I'm not sure how to mount it.

It's currently mounted in line with the main rotor shaft on the left side with the servo shaft on the tail side to keep the servo as far forward as possible. Does anyone know if this is adequate or if I need to readjust?

I prefer to dail in some expo on elevator and aileron to tone down response, but still allow enough throw to get out of trouble if needed.

Yep... thisis the correct way to set up for a less sensative stick around center but still gives you max throw if you need it.

Bob

:dontknow how do I do that? hehe... I just used your suggestion to lower the swash mixing to the edge ridge of the swash ball. hehe

Another video and another time... Quick tip... Expo for futaba is a minus number and for JR a positive number.

Here you go:

If you fiddle around with the servo you'll find several ways to attach it to the tail. Just make sure your rod is in a straight line without binding.
Don't mind the dirt on the bird; I took the shots just after a moisty flight from this wet winter morning........

Thanks for the pics, Barn Owl! The way you did that looks really strong and secure. I think I have some more work to do. I think I have to attach the servo to the bracket better, as well as, change the servo horn and servo location. I just drilled a hole in the tab between the mounting holes. I don't think it's very secure. I like your approach better.

Hey Bob, in the blade balancing video you add the tape to the tip of the blade that is light on the tip to achieve the COB? I would think that you would add weight to the base of the blade that was light on the base. This would keep the COB more towards the base than the tip. I would think that this would be better???

Thomas

BTW, thanks for all the work, the videos really help out.

Hmmm good question... I was taught years ago to do it on the tip and have always done it that way. I suppose doing it to the base will also work BUT the nice thing of having it on the tip is for checking blade tracking. The tape on the tip lets you see which blade is high and which is low.

Bob,

Just wanted to give you a quick thank you for your great videos. My T-rex is very thankful too! I am about to head out for my first flight! I'm sure that it will be smooth learning what I did in the vids!

Thanks again,

IN one of the videos or posts, I remember Bob saying 8mm from shaft to ball for the tail.

What you do is rotate the servo until the rod is straight down teh boom. It may slope up from the servo to the tail lever.

Bob,

Just got back after first test flight of my Rex 450 SA. I took the time to watch all of your videos and setup the bird correctly. I could not believe it. I was a little intimidated as I was moving up from a Blade CP.
As soon as I got the T-rex off of the ground, I was amazed! The bird just sat there in a hover like a statue. There is no comparison in the caliber of these birds. I do however want to tear apart the Blade CP and rebuild it carefully.
Thanks again for the work that you put into the videos.

Cheers,

John

Here is pictures of my bird. Try to make as clean as possible ( thanks a lot to Bob for ideas), still couldn't hide some wires-will hide them eventualy-just tired of thinking). Everything connected beside main power and motor.
BTW for everybody recommendation ( from my 30 years experience in boating, air modeling and RC cars) never let servo wires be on the sharp edges of carbon fiber plates (frame)-insulation will be cut and it will make ether short or glitches for sure. Always put wires on flat surface or at list round sharp edges (use sand paper).

Hey Bob,

I was looking for the Tail installation for the Trex 450. I'm building my first and find your videos very helpful. The only part of the Trex build I can't find is where you put the tail boom into the bird and explaining tail assembly. If you could point me to the correct link would be great. Thank again for all your help and videos. I know you have become the Heli Video Hero for a lot of us.

Thanks for the reply Bob. One other question and it has to do with the forums and the date/time stamps on the threads. Can you give me a reference on how to read the stamp or do I have to customize that in my profile?

Thanks again for your help,

I just got finished setting up my head according to CCPM setup videos and everything went perfect until I got to the end--setting the pitch. I think I did everything exactly as instructed but I'm only getting about 8-9 percent up pitch and about 9-10 percent down pitch.

I'm using Futaba s3107 servos. Is this the problem?

Thanks

What radio?
WHatever it is make sure you do not have ANY of your hover pitch or pitch trim mixes enabled! You can tell if they are on by going to center or 3/4 stick and moving your dials and sliders. If the swash moves you have them on and need to disable them and sorry to say but oince disabled youy will have to go through setup all over again.
