View Full Version : Stratus Rolls to the right as I put in the Pitch

I have always found that even though I set up my swash so its level at Top and Bottom using the MA Swash tool (twisting it to ensure even gap) I still get a roll to the right especially noticeable in power climb outs.

I get the same problem inverted except in the opposite direction.

I can remove the roll using a pitch to aileron mix.

I cant understand why the heli would roll even though the swash is perfectly level.

any ideas?

Just because it looks perfectly level. Doesn't mean the heli is going to fly level. I am attentive about setting the swashplate level at mid, top and bottom on the bench. But I guess the flight forces will allow the servos to move further than they do on the bench. I pretty much have to adust the end points on one of the servos for the model to fly level at full positive and negative pitch.

David do you use the ATVs to fine tune instead od a mix?

Yes ATV's instead of mix.
Just normally takes adjustment on one servo only. I have never adjusted but one and got it like I wanted it.

With the exception of the special mixers in the 12Z and 14 MZ, you'll use the ATV's to track the swash at extremes of collective travel. If you have a badly matched set of servos and the model veers off at an intermediate collective position while climbing straight at full high or low pitch, then you need to use a mulitpoint mixer with a point as close to the offending stick postion as possible.
