hello all, I've got a Raven and just got a carbon tailboom from Century for it. But when I go to install it, it is far too tight (uppers are spread 2mm wide). The instructions say to sand it till it fits, but it is thin as I dare go without compromising integrity. Has anyone ever had this problem before? What did you do to fix it, and do you think also sanding the inside of the uppers is a good idea? I'm starting to wonder if they sent a mis packaged item or something like that.

ok, I guess no one here has ever had a carbon tailboom before. I figure the uppers are five bucks cheaper but are harder to change, so I will sand the inside of the uppers to fit. The boom is real nice, very stiff and light. As long as everything is centered it should work....I hope.

Souds to me like the boom might be wrong.

I dont know of any boom with same exact demensions EXCEPT diameter off by 2mm. I think it is a manufacturing error. the cut outs are perfect and the legnth is perfect otherwise. If I were to sand it to fit, it would be thinner than a piece of paper! :arggg:

ok, I got it to work. I had to evenly sand the inside of the uppers just a little. I think that the uppers had a high spot inside, most likely a molding error. The carbon boom is bigger and made the problem apparent. The boom is now tight but not overly so.
