one of you guys made a different way of mounting the flat skids using spacers and small brackets as opposed to replacing the original delrin mounts.
i could not find the post but i know it was here. i wanted to see where they found the material to make the spacers.

Did you find any posts wrt to skid mounting, philipfrank?
From what I've seen from you other posts in this forum, you have nailed a good skid mount-desing. How about sharing how you made those mounts?

i found a piece of plastic tubing with a hole thru the center that would allow me to tap with 4-40 threads.
i then got some .032 aluminum sheet and cut out 4 strips and drilled holes to allow for 4-40 machine bolts. one end of each strip attaches to the frame and the other end attaches to the gear plate. bend the gear out at an angle and wala, you have gear mounts.

Thanx! Maybe you should post the same pictures you posted at the electronics placement thread here?

ok, here you go. 2 pics of the heli (one out of focus) and one of the material used.
cut spacer material to length and thread the center hole with 4-40 tap.
cut out the aluminum tabs and drills holes for screws. bend each tab to about 30 degrees and yer done.

Here is my solution. I machined some replacements out of Alum.

i had planned to make some from pvc material. i recently ordered a small sheet to cut it from.
my concern with metal is that the metal won't break in a crash. either the gear will break or the frames.
i prefer for the gear mounts to give way to save damage on the rest of the machine in a gear down crash.
of course if you never crash then it is not a problem. that is a good looking machining job. if i had a way to machine i would make some from plastic.
i plan to cut the pvc material with a dremel and a saw.

I'm curious, were you guys having problems with the delrin supports?

I haven't had any problems with the stock landing gear and mounts. I blotched an auto on hardpacked dirt and it survived with no damage except a small chip on the landing skid.

Well Phillip I just finished my G4 and I still want those alloy units.
NOTE: I got the 9650 to mount under the frame and piroutes are centered as all get out.... SWEET.
