View Full Version : Revolution Mixing for Tail (Non HH Gyro) Question
Hi Guys, can anyone please educate me on what revolution mixing really indicates, and how one can set up the tail with revo mixing so as to couteract Blade torgue. How do you do this with a non HH gyro (Futaba G190); How do you know when it is necessary to revo mix. Thanks.

I will try to make it as simple as I can.
Revo mixing will give a tail rotor command as you add collective/throttle or decrease it.
It usually works from mid stick to full and midstick to low.
From mid stick to full. You want Revo mixing to be giving a tail command to the right.
From mid stick to low stick. You want Revo mixing to be giving a tail command to the left.
You will have to just do test flights till you get it adjusted correctly. It usually only takes a few minutes to get it correct.
For Forward flight you want to use the Rudder Offset function if your radio has that capability. What this function does is puts the rudder in the proper position for forward flight when using an idle up. It takes less right tail rotor once the heli is in forward flight than it does when the heli is hovering. So this function will acommplish the amount needed when adjusted correctly.

To add to what David said.
The tail rotor corrects for torque from the main rotor system, newtons third law and all that. So the fuselage wants to spin opposite the rotataion of the main rotor. At hover everything is equal and the tail rotor cancels the torque. What happens when you add power is the system produces more torque so more tail rotor is required to hold it straight, the opposite occurs when you pull power off, you need less tail rotor or it will drive the nose the other way. REVO mixing takes your throttle stick position and adds or removes tail rotor pitch as needed.
A heading hold gyro would take the mixing command as a command to turn and would turn the nose as long as it thought the rudder stick was being held so thats the reason you dont want revo mixing on with a heading hold gyro.
Thanks guys, can you kindly suggest what value of right command i should input; my heli (MX400) spins to the left when motor is spooling up to about hovering throtle; Further i use a DX2 spektrum tx, and i can't seem to be able to adjust the rudder offset value; Also kindly advise as to what gain value i should adopt with my G190 non HH gyro. Thanks
