Fury 8.45 to 8.18 What do I need

Am considering an OS91 and would like to know what I need to convert.

This is an older Extreme not an upgraded Expert though. I searched and couldn't find the thread on this subject.

Here's my list so far. Is it complete? Also are my part numbers correct?

0865-90 90T Main gear

115-50 Engine mounts left and right

119-118 Clutch side plates

0546-4 (?) OS engine collets (would rather wait for the news ones though)

Pinion???

OS91 SZH PS

SB-18FH

115-50 Engine mounts left and right

You can use the 8.45 mounts - you would just need shims. They are 115-47 and you would need I believe 4 shims - 2 per side. That way you dont have to buy new engine mounts and you can easily change back to 8.45 if you so desire.

0864-13 11 tooth pinion with 0183 bearing installed. But if the ratio is now 8.45. It should already have the 11 tooth pinion.



You can use two shims per side like mentioned above 115-47. But you also might have to use some shims made out of cola can also to get the fan and driver exactly square. The 115-47 shims are suppose to be .030 thick. But they vary a little. So when you stack more than one, sometimes you still need a few thousands.

Ok so the 11 tooth pinion.

I already have the engine mounts for the 8.18 ratio.

How about the rest of my list? Is it complete?

Well you should need the 90 tooth main gear.

8.18 clutch plates. You can use the 8.45 plates and just slot the four holes .060 back towards the main gear. I have done that on several sets of clutch plates with no problems.

Collets 0546-4

Engine mounts, since you have 115-50 and 51 you said. You will need two 115-47 shims. One for each side.

That is all I think you need.

It all arrived fine. I hope the stuff from me worked OK, too. I lament your spending the extra to get those two mounts back to me, because I wasn't pressed to get hem back. As stated there's no need to buy new 8.18 mounts. Use the ones you have and shim as needed.

Yes Ben it worked great. No problem on the shipping, it's a small part of the hobby.

I will use the mounts that I have and use the shims.
