This has been bugging me for a while:

On duralites it says : do not discharge below 6.0v (i think), but what about laptops cameras and Cell phones -- they don't have this warning and say they use lithuim ion/poly batteries? Does letting them go below 6v just decrease their lifespan/ mAmps?

Anyone know? And how can Phones/computers not have this problem?

Not that i would EVER let the duralites get down but just curious.

Overly discharging your lipo's will ruin them-- it only takes once. I found out the hard way.

I would guess that laptops, cell phones, etc. have built in circuits to prevent draining the batt too far.

Even though I know very little...I would have to agree...Since these items have a wall outlet charging system that trickle charges... The batteries dont really have to worry about over charge/fast charge/or low voltage discharge like we have to option to do with our chargers.

I don't know Bart. I think Shannons LiIon Cell phone gets drained down like a deep cycle trolling motor battery. :D

With a nominal voltage of 7.4V it would be unwise to discharge a Li-Ion flight pack below 6.9V as damage occur at around 5.5V, and not charge them to over 8.4V for the same reason. Li-Ion Tx packs of nominal voltage of 11.1V should not be discharged to less than 10.8V for long life and good performance.
