I was wondering if anyone was using this head combo. Its the mavrick one from heliproz. Or am I better off with the quick Uk head? I was also curious to how these expensive parts hold up in a crash. thanks

Since nobody has answered I will take a stab at it. I have never owned the Mavrikk Head, but I have owned 4 or 5 QUK complete from the swash up's.

I know at least 3 or 4 people who have been flying the Mavv head successfully for quite a while, one of them is the owner of the Black Sheep Field where I fly often. They seem to do fine.

I flew the QUK heads on 3 R90's for a couple of years and they are VERY NICE and fly very well, and hold up very well. Only thing I ever wore out withthe QUK stuff was the washout base can get sloppy over time. (What brand cant??) The one that did get sloppy over time was on my R50 Electric Conversion running about 2200 headspeed, the 90 ones never got sloppy. QUK was QUICK to replace it, no problem.

I would highly recommend the QUK if you want the absolute top of the line like I did. The Mavv one is probably fine and you can save quite a bit of $$ going with it.

As for how they hold up in a crash... Metal parts bend sometimes and your total cost of ownership is goign to be higher with any full metal heads. I crashed mine a lot and had to replace the balls on the grips, which are hard to find in stock. The MA medium and long balls work in the QUK grips which saved me a few times when I needed a quick repair. I have no idea how parts availability is on the Mavv stuff, I would think it is probably good since HeliProz carrys Mavv.

I was leaning towards QUK myself. I've heard many good things about it. I was just concerned with slop and durability. Lets say you destroy a blade grip in a crash, thats about 90 bucks  I think I'll give QUK a shot I saw it somewhere for 2 and change for the whole conversion. Thanks for the info!

Not always, but ofcourse it can happen. Let's say 1 out of ten average crashes...

Cheers,

I have that head, it's made by Hobby Taiwan, and sold under that name here in Sweden. I actually bought their complete helicopter, which is basically a Raptor 50 with almost all metal parts, called the Evor 50. Very happy with it so far, although I've only put three tanks through it yet. All the parts feel very nice, solidly built and with a nice sandblasted finish.

I need to take a look at all the parts in the V2 grips. Anyone know how I can get a softcopy of the V2 parts manual. I have the V1 manual.

thanks

I've now witnessed a few crashes with this head (the Mavrikk one) and out of four crashes, two blade grips bent and one grip bearing destroyed. Other than that no damage to the metal parts. Seems pretty sturdy to me.

I know of many guys who fly Trexs with all metal heads except for the grips and some guys who fly their nitros that way. In this configuration, the inexpensive plastic grips will break and save you from bending and breaking other more expensive metal parts.

Just my 2 cents worth.........
