Home made cheap unbreakable blades!!
I love my Gaui but am sick of buying blades for it and I think they are over priced at $10 a pair.
Last week I ran out of blades and grabbed an old set of fixed pitch plastic blades for my old honeybee by esky. I cut them short length wise and width wise and tried them. The heli hovered very easily but constantly yawned/ turn to the left. I cut them even shorther and they worked perfectly! they are flexible so won't break and the tracking was pretty much spot on. I highly recommend this for someone who wants to save money on blades. Of course there will be people who say I am crazy but seriously they work very well. have a look at the photo. the blade measurement is 165mm from tip to root, If you cut the blade correctly then there is not much pitch/curve left on it. not to be a jerk, but the blades shatter so that you head does not get shredded, linkages, ect. I had that problem when i had a blade 400 and those stock align blades. they would only crack in a crash and my head would be toast. when i used the align 325's on the same bird...they would shatter in crashes which left me with only minimal head rebuilding.
hopefully you won't crash, but if you do, let us know of if the amount of damage to the head changes. Still, that's some decent craftsmanship on the blades...balancing precise cuts....
