View Full Version : Pitch travel on fury extreme, swashplate touching pins?

How much pitch should i be able to get on my fury? I can only get +- 10 but even when i have +10 in pitch, the pins (0840-27) on the head is touching the swashplate when i put elevator at full? Is that normal? do i have to get rid of that?

I was thinking is i can shorten the pins a couple of mm, or something?

Thx for advice here!

Shorten the three links going to the swashplate from the bell cranks. Then you will have to reset the rods going to the rotor head to 0 pitch at mid stick. This will allow more pitch range without the pins hitting on the swashplate.

Do Not shorten the pins. The reason being when at full negative pitch the pins would disengage from the washout base.

I have no problem getting 12/12 on the Fury.

Sounds like the above problem is likely solved, however I made a slight modification to the pins that might be of interest.

What I did was carefully grind a 45 degree bevel from the outside edges of the pins to their centerline. The outside edge is what hits the swash and the washout slides against the centerline, so swash clearance is added without changing the length of pin engagement.

I'm looking at my swashplate right now.. It's got little spots on the top where the pins have been banging against the swash.

Two of the links are easy to shorten. However, that one in the back is set as short as it will go. Should I file some of the link's neck off to make it shorter? I'm thinking 1mm from each link... does that sound reasonable?

However, that one in the back is set as short as it will go.

Cut off some of the base of one link. Just take an Xacto and slice off a couple millimeter of the base of the link. Then screw it back together and adjust accordily.
