The quote bellow is from a guy that saw the new E Raptor today first hand. What do you guys think about it? Will it be hevier competition for the T-Rex600 or do you think maybe the Lepton?

This is an exciting time in R/C heli history!!!!

A bit more info.

Three versions will be available, 550mm, 600mm and a 620mmSE. The motor is mounted as far a possible from the electronics, with a very large battery tray, which can take loads of combinations. The eCCPM design is very interesting. It looks to have lots of common parts with the Raptor 30/50, great if you have both IC's and electric. I have been told there are only 7 parts different, I suspect these are very major parts ;-)

Very impressive in the air (in very unfavourable conditions).

I have a Raptor 30 and 50 and if I was looking for a 600mm size electric machine this would be worth the wait because of the shared parts.

Yep - I saw this at the show yesterday too. Very interesting. I particularly like the fact you have the choice of blade / boom lengths so you can start small and use 6s lipos - thus keeping the costs down.

Will be very interesting to see how it is priced with a motor and esc. They wouldn't say anything about pricing yesterday (asked the top man from TT). August is the estimated released date.

I am on the verge of buying a rappy 50v2 and motor and esc as it can easily be done for a little over £400 now - and this will make the perfect base for a scale project I am about to start. The new raptor surely will have to fall somewhere in this price range with motor and esc. Saying that - I bet it'll cost more, allowing for the fact you can save a lot buying 6s packs rather than 10 or 11s packs you need for a standard e-raptor conversion. Hmm - then again, if you get the 600mm or more setup with the new electric raptor you are going to be back in 10 to 11s territory.

All very interesting!

Oh yeah - and hats off to the guy who did the demo flight in 20 -30 mph gusting wind. It was gusty enough that I know I'd have had trouble just hovering lol. He really made the thing fly - and at one stage did a full speed fly by with the wind on his tail and I don't think I've seen a model heli move that fast before!

That e-Raptor is going to take a different kind of programming than most are used to. The CCPM is actually a 90-degree setup, not a 120-degree setup. Perhaps they believe that this will cut down on control interaction?

Dennis, the QJ8 is a completely different class of bird. It is designed to accept 400 mm to 425 mm blades. The Lepton is around the same size. Both of these can go through basic flight on a 4S pack and really shine on 6S or higher. A 30-size or 50-size electric will need 6S just to get off the ground.

In comparison, the QJ16/18 is a 30-sized bird that will accept 550 mm blades.

I believe they are offering it in a 90 and 140 degree.

I would wait for the Raptor Dennis. WAY better support and most likely a lot cheaper to crash. Those metal frames get tweaked, your done with the QJ...

Will -- the frames on the QJ8 are only $38. Not much worse than crashing a T-Rex badly enough to trash the frames. Also, RotorWorks (I think?) is making CF and FG replacement frames for the QJ8.

I am KIND of surprised it is eCCPM at all. I love flying push/pull but hate setting up push/pull.
