what does it mean when the main reciever light blinks rapidly and the remote reciever is steady?

Sounds like you're not getting a complete "lock" on the RX. Cut the power to your heli (unplug the battery), make sure that your TX throttle is at low (and turned on obviously), and the reconnect the battery to your heli/RX. It should go solid.
Only other cause I can think of is low battery power.....
