There are some of us who have tried to talk Chris into it, but so far he is not interested..... :DOH I would LOVE to have an electric version of the new Magnum. :smokin:

For you Will, no problem. After all, you trusted me with Rexie and your Ion. Turnabout is fair play. :)
Is there some Valium in the house?!? I can see I'll be needing some. I'll be like a mother who just handed her teenager the keys to the family car for the first time. LOL
Jeanette,
I think the line starts at flight station three in Chatti. I'm not sure it reaches all the way out by you yet, but it might make it there before the funfly starts.
I believe Chuck Birt did a conversion on his Intrepid 46 a year or so ago. I havent heard how it came out.

I will take you up on that offer Malorie only problem is something has come up and iam not heading to Chatti BUT i will be @ MHA for sure the following week
Electric?? that would be a breeze i was looking it over pretty good Saturdayand @ its weight i think it would really fly well
Greg was telling me his motor was alittle tired as well! Iwas thinking OMI CSPEC and it will be insane

Oh well, I'm sure we'll hook up somewhere along the way.

My Magnum has the SZ and it's pretty well settled in (about 4+ gallons thru it now) and is producing mega power. My other Magnum is running a well broke in C-Spec with new bearings and that motor is rockin' as well. I'm not sure which I like better at this point. The SZ is still a bit finicky but is getting better. The C-Spec is really running sweet but is producing close but not quite as much power. It my get the SZ carb before too long. :)
Anyway, I'm sure we'll get together along the way. :)

Interestingly enough, one of the very well know 3D pilots was doing some messing around with his SZ at Black Sheep on Saturday and installed the 60K OMI Cline/Big Bore carb (C-SPEC Carb) in his SZ and it was producing UNGODLY POWER with that 60K. He said he did not even touch the needles from where they were when he had it on an OMI C-SPEC.
Very impressive POWER!!

Here's a dumb question: What's a Magnum? :dontknow
I asked Chris a while back why they stopped producing the Intrepid 46. He said that most people aren't willing to buy an $1100 50-sized bird when you can get a "plastic fantastic", like the Raptor or Evo, for 1/3 to 1/2 of the price. Now that people are starting to throw a 50 around like a small 90 with the newer engines and do electric conversions, he might want to rethink his position. :smokin:

The Intrepid 60/70/80/90 has been renamed because of numerous updates and revisions to the airfame and canopy. In other words, it was time. Besides calling it the Intrepid 60/70/80/90 was a pain. LOL
I'm sure if you wanted one, Bergen would still sell you a 50. In fact, I just put one together as a practice machine just to get the fuel economy. It flys pretty well and rock solid with the Hyper and Hatori pipe. It could use some 620s though. :)

Are you saying that the 50 gives you better fuel economy than your gasser?
I didn't see a name change on the BergenRC web site. When will that become official? Will the gasser still be called the Intrepid? Inquiring minds want to know!

The Magnum I have is just rocking I have the SZH in it and is pumping out more power than I could have imagined. About 3 gallons trough it and it is coming alive.

Bobby...wish you could have flown my other Magnum with the SZ Pumped motor in it! But...since I managed to put it in at Huntsville and have been out on business since then...it is still in pieces! :arggg:
But...Ricko just sent my new canopy for it and Chris is bringing the parts I need to get it back in the air with him to Chatti this weekend so ...you will be able to fly the SZ one when you come up for MHA event in a couple...
I am glad you liked it...even if it wasn't Malorie's bird! :noteworthy :noteworthy

The Intrepid Gasser will be and is still the Intrepid Gasser. It has been the benificiary of some of the research and developement that has been getting put into the Magnum. As usual, the Intrepid line is always evolving.
I think the Magnum became offial at Toledo. I'm not sure when the website will reflect the change. Again, the name change was mostly because the machine has evolved enough over the past couple of years that it is an improvement (Magnum) over what people normally consider to be the Intrepid 60/70/80/90. The machine had a mechanical facelift, why not the name. ;)
Greg,
I'm sure your machine was rockin'. :) Mine just gets daily TLC so it's always improving. :smokin:

Malorie and I will both be at the Chatti event...hopefully Will or someone can get a video of Mal...
But Jeanette...any of the video's of Malorie flying here on HeliFreak is basically a Magnum...just before the name change...
