ha ha ha... i'm ez to please ( just ask my wife;)) i'm just REALLY into this heli stuff and dont wanna go less for more.. i did it with my car stereo and ended up upgrading and buying twice so i figure just buy the x~pensive stuff first .. also i like goin to my local to get stuff ( not big on ordering online) i do plan on getting some cheap stuff to like batt and multiple batt charger. i also do A LOT of research before i buy ANYTHING , so ALL your ( everybody ) opinions matter to me  so "THANK YOU"

~~DOC, look on the inside cover of your CYPHER book. should be a address to order direct. i have my local order parts and start stocking them for me ;) , also i've learned not to skimp on the gyro and tail servo, did you get the pakage with the 401? oh , dont worry bout the wifey thing ( you're not alone ) just buy her somethin nice . it worked with my wife:thumbup:~~

~~Chris, thanx:thumbup: it's not done. still gotta wet sand, add more clear and and smooth and buff it up for a REAL GOOD shine. it's ez to do but takes time~~

~~Vechlor, thanx but already spent the $ on Futaba , i really NEED the buddy option, i dont wanna scratch the paint job ;)

Here's another one for your bookmarks, helidirect.com located in MA. They carry some good stuff with free shipping for most items. They have the Pro "3D" white CF blades in stock too, so you won't have to wait 2 weeks from hobbycity (hobbyking) to ship them. link (http://www.helidirect.com/325mm-pro-main-blade-for-electric-450-helicopter-p-10339.hdx)

I had the pro 3d blades on my heli and they made a huge improvement over the stock woods. For the beginner just starting to hover, I recommend getting these as they cost the same as the woods, they are heavy like the woods and the heli will respond smoother with a slower response time.

I'm currently using the black/white cf blades from HobbyKing (http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8396&Product_Name=325mm_Carbon_Fiber_Main_Blade_White_% 281pair%29) (my small review here) (http://www.helifreak.com/showpost.php?p=1272110&postcount=159). These blades are lighter and take a higher rpm for stability, they feel quicker in response time and great for sport/3D flying.

Also, it's important to balance your blades to eliminate any vibration. There are many blade balancers to chose from, I went with the Align budget version here (http://www.helidirect.com/align-blade-balancer-k10289a-p-723.hdx) (Finless Bob doesn't seem to mind! video guide (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/trex450&filename=blade_balancing101.wmv)).. It works out pretty good if you have the patience to do it right.

More of Finless Bob's heli 101 setup videos (http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=41692). Very worth it!!

+1 on "HeliDirect" got my servo's and gyro's from them. Real good service ~ ask for mints and stickers:thumbup:

OK. im UPDATING this to say i'm not pleased with "HOBBY PEOPLE" they sent me the CYPHER missing linkage , balls, link rod ends, and tail linkage and rod guides. so i called and let them know. they sent out the parts from "Global " everything was there but the rods( on back order till may 30 ) i ordered my CYPHER on april 1 ! not happy. I feel as a NEW cutomer they should have better customer service , maybe send x~tra blades or take the parts i need off of a floor model... something ! instead they fed me a line of crap just to get me off the phone! as i am new to this, i dont know if they have a history of doin this but i just thought i would let people in on what happened with me. for the record though... i DO APROVE OF THE CYPHER and think it's a GREAT heli..and i'm gonna get the linkage for a BLADE 400 from my local and see if it works.

Kevin I feel bad you're having a time with HP. I've spent a "butt-load" of $ with them and have never had a problem. Kinda puts a sour taste in your mouth, I know. My only beef with them is they can't seem to keep gear sets in stock for the Airtronics 94091 servos. I need to find another supplier. I'm still waiting on gears that are back ordered for almost 3 months. Vechlor posted me a "list" of Airtronics dealers that I'll check out.
Glad you like your Cypher otherwise. You'll really like flying it and it's a great heli to learn on and grow with. Have your buddy Mike put it thru the paces and you'll see how capable it is !!

I'm sure you meant to say "Ready Heli" :D They're the folks with the candy ;)

... Heli Direct is just as good too.... they offer stickers too, but no candy. :(

BTW, I too am surprised HP didn't just remove the needed rods and links from a kit in stock and just send you the parts. Sux to have to wait until the 30th for them to ship it from a backorder.

Kev,

When you get a charger for your LiPo's, Be SURE to fully understand how to charge a battery and ALWAYS be present when charging....please.

This sad story happens 2 or 3 times a year.... http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=194996&highlight=house+fire

I've read about total loss fires due to li-po fires and it IS a horrible thing. Couldn't imagine how I'd feel if it happened to me and it was because of the hobby I enjoy so much!! I never leave my chrg and paks unattended and am fanatical about checking them constantly while they're chrg. But I will admit I don't use a bag or anything, probably should!

I want to go to a metal geared servo on cyclic for my Cypher. Wish the 94091's were metal. Looking at the 94809... metal gears, digital, .12 sec. at 4.8v [same as 94091], 35 oz-in of torque at 4.8v [18oz on 94091] and just about the same dimensions as 94091. What do you guys think? Looked at the Align DS410 but have read they are problematic.

I got mints from Ready Heli :) Ate them on the spot!

Kevin, Have a look at Hobby Shack (http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1271718077/ref=sr_pg_1?ie=UTF8&keywords=cypher&me=A2PSEE2Q6MFH59&rh=n%3A165795011%2Ck%3Acypher&page=1) (amazon seller), they still carry a few parts. I would use them as a last resort since their prices are higher than others...
Added: HeliProz (http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=heli&Category_Code=CypherParts) has all Cypher parts all in stock!

Chris, I found one listing for 94091z gear set on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Airtronics-Servo-Gear-Set-94091Z-AIR99493-/220306739297?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item334b4e1061) (9 available).

I haven't had a lot of experience with HP, but when I contacted global about a warped main gear, they sent me a new one the next day plus a one-way bearing kit! My friend Josh got his swash replaced after finding it was defective, he got it in 2-3 days. My father has the Cypher too and the head was really bad, bent flybar, bad flybar bearings, metal burs everywhere, bad threads for the set screw holding the motor shaft, but he got all those problems taken care of with HP's help. My bro's heli didn't have a single problem with it except for a badly warped wood blade, I just got one of my spares and now he's set.

My biggest gripe is the poor or lack of QC! Take the time to look over the Cypher for any problems, once they are resolved, you got a solid flying 3D performance heli!

Added: Chris, if they can survive a few crashes, I think they are worth the high price. There's no shame with plastic gears, better they strip on the ground than in the air and cost very little to fix.

Now that we're on the subject of HP. A couple of years ago I went in to my local HP to get a Traxxas servo. The employee handed me an Airtronics servo and told me that it was better and cheaper. The thing didn't even fit in my car. I took it back and they told me that I grabbed it out of the clearance basket, and that they could not take it back. I explained to the manager that an employee had handed it too me, and that I didn't know anything about the clearance basket. I asked him to give me credit for it because I merely wanted the OEM servo that I had originally gone in for. He would budge, and he treated me rather poorly accusing me of being dishonest. It was an $11 servo for goodness sake. I drove a 1/2 mile away to an independant LHS and got my $25 Traxxas servo. Over the silly little 11 dollars, I have refused to step foot back in the store.

The moral of the story is that I have wanted a Cypher for quite some time, but I haven't gotten one because I know that I will end up wanting to get parts from my local HP.

Thanks for letting me cry on your shoulders.

Stu

Thanks Vechlor. Don't have a problem with plastic gearing, but I lose a servo every time I crash [I know...don't crash lol] and I have a hard time finding the Airtronics gears, plus get tired of the repair! Like the Airtronics preformance and the 94809's specs look good. Think I'd need a seperate BEC to handle the digitals with the stock ESC, or go with a new ESC with a good BEC. The lowest I've found the 94809 for is $35. Any opinions, suggestions or other servos?

Kevin, Looks like Heliproz (http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=heli&Category_Code=CypherParts) has all the parts in stock if you don't want to wait for HP to ship them. I'm still boggled that they sent you a cypher without linkages. Argh!

Chris, that's a good price for the servo specs. I saw this ad from HP (http://www.hobbypeople.net/specials/newdigitalservoshome.html) for the same price awhile ago. As for digital servos, I would probably pick up a better ESC w/ BEC or just a better BEC if you're good with the stock esc. Maybe a 35-40a ESC with 2-4a BEC. Are these servos safe to run at 6v or will you keep them at 4.8v?

I looked at these, maybe one of them will do? Align BL35G (http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_389_416/products_id/9295/n/Align-BL35G-35A-Brushless-ESC-w--Governor-Mode) or Align RCEBL35X (http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_389_416/products_id/9640/n/Align-RCEBL35X-35A-Brushless-ESC-w--Governor-Mode) (6v). pdf manual (http://www.rc-discount.de/store/media/products/0595205001123088775.pdf) or Castle Phoenix ICE HV 40 (http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_389_416/products_id/160973/n/Castle-Creations-Phoenix-ICE-HV-40-Brushless-ESC). I haven't looked into the different ESCs that much, but make sure to pick one out with good heli programming features, like soft cutoff, soft start, over heat protection, governer mode if you need it, no break etc.

Well i crashed my EXI yesterday,:arggg: it looks like the pitch ball link came loose.
Was hovering just fine, then all of a sudden, flip, slam , bam!!!.
Blades of course, and only 1 of the SF mixing arms broke, bent flybar but i bent it back. So not all that bad.

Kevin, i just called the hobby people by my work, and they have 1 set there. Said they would hold it for me if i wanted. So hope you come on soon and let me know.
I will call them back and tell them to hold if you want.

Hey Guys,
i got it together and hope it works, had to cut and trim some E~Flight rods from the Blade 400.. i REALLY hope the rods don't pull out of the rod ends:( that would be BAD.

~ 1157 = i was worried bout the same thing but went to my local shop and he's now gonna carry CYPHER parts for me:) just talk to your local... they like to make money:YeaBaby:

~James, thanks but i'll be ok.. hopefully the E~Flight will hold up. and for the record i did call.. but i ONLY called Hobby People NOT Global... i understand the back order.. but the service was weak:thumbdown: hey , maybe the guy was just havin a bad day?

~Mike, me out fly you?? ha joke !! look what happened on the sim! though i have been practicing invert rolls and flips.. nice and smooth:YeaBaby: just not so good at invert hover:o
i know about the dangers of charging batteries, seen the vids and read the stories. very sad. i ONLY charge batteries when im home , NEVER when i'm sleeping AND i even have my wife check when she gets home just in case i forget to unplug..
this brings me to a question though... im gonna get the a triton charger but they also have a charger that dose 5 batteries ot once.. should i get it or can the triton do more then one at a time ... i meen 5+ batteries = 5+hours of charging time:thumbdown::mad:
ok i'm goin to bed before i go smiley face crazy !:wow2:
THANX FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT :noteworthy
