Outstanding Kevin!

Glad it worked. I will thank my friend, who suggested it to me (tried it first on his own machine).

I have heard people say that HP does not stand behind the stuff they sell. I have ALWAYS gotten good service from them. They have replaced any thing that was bad, even after the warranty was past.

Kevin, the more you work on the helicopter the better you and it gets. After a few rebuilds you will have it so you cam swap parts with your eyes closed. You will also be able to see where a parts has failed. You may not notice it at first, but after seeing a ever so slightly bent shaft. You are able to spot it easily.

I was so scared to work on my first helicopter. After the third crash I was so used to seeing it in pieces. You have now become an advanced re-builder :)

If you are not crashing, you are not flying.

I have been struggling with other things lately. I have not had a chance to take up my Cypher. I have had life kick me a couple of times but I think I am almost back. Just a few things to take care of then I will be ordering some batteries and a charger. Then I should be good to go.

Dru, I'm glad to read that things are getting better. Life likes to kick us sometimes, but it always seems to work out in the long run. Keep your chin up. We're rootin' for ya !!

I've been real busy these last weeks with my driveway. Just finished putting in a 55ft long X 4ft high retaining wall along the driveway/front lawn. Six skids of blocks each 80 lbs. plus filling them with stone dust, put in drainage and back filled with #1 stone. All this needed to be done before I can have the driveway paved. That happens this Tues. Alot of work but will be real nice when finished. So... I have been keeping up with you all here, just been too pooped to post, hehe. Haven't flown in what seems like forever and that sux. This week I'll get Cypher and Atom 500 up.

wmartin38, I always wondered if you'd ever show up again! Glad you're back!

yes, i'm getting good at REbuilding:thumbup:

I did something today that i regret though... i let someone try and fly my heli.. DO NOT LET ANYONE FLY YOUR HELI NO MATTER HOW GOOD THEY SAY THEY ARE !! one of my uncles has been flyin planks/fixed wings for YEARS, he also has been flyin a T~REX 450 and nitro 600 so i thought he knew what he was doin.. WRONG ! he didnt crash it but he did wipe out a brand new set of KBDD tail blades and twisted my tail alittle. come to find out he has A LOT of weight on his 450 fly bar and a Gyro stabelizing unit on the 600.. ya, i have NO weights on fly bar and DONT use expo... lesson learned = do not let ANY ONE fly your heli ..
so now that i HAD it all tuned.. yet another rebuild:thumbdown: anyway , i got my new swash in the mail today so either way i was gonna have to work on it.
Just thought i would share..
oh he told me to check out " rchover.com " i think it's a local hobby shop:confused: i'll find out later;)

Kevin,

Sorry to hear your tail blades go wiped out-that stuff happens.

As far as Hobby People goes, they have always provided me with excellent support and backed their products to the hilt, in my book.

I had to have the pump in my well replaced, that was $2200.00, tires on 2 vehicles and my motor cycle, $1000.00, and the standard stuff life throws. Just when I had the money to order my batteries, life takes it from me :(

Lately it seems it is endless. I even gave up LOOKING at batteries. I have 1, yes just 1 1800 mah 3 cell lipo. The rest are 2600, 1300, 1000, 610 and 500 sized lipos. I thought about using some of the smaller batts in parellel just to get in the air.

I am looking at about mid to late September to order my batteries. Just in time for the AMA and the club dues to come in :).

Soon, my pretties, very, very soon, I will be back HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (Evil laugh)

Man o man. Looks like I will be getting (2) of them tomorrow. Hard to pas up at that price.

I will see if the store by work has any or if the one I drive past on the way home has any.

I think I can spare $33.00 for 2 of them.

You guys are a totally bad influence on me. It was not my fault, they made me. Thats my story and I am sticking to it. :)

I need to spend some quality time with my nitro 30's. I want to get a little vid of them compared to the cypher. They look like David and Goliath when they are next to each other.

Hey kevin,
Static = Static Electricity.....The belt can cause static to build up, where as torque tubes do not I have heard.

The static build up is a lot worse on the carbon tail boom. they hold the charge compared to the aluminum conducting it. pretty much never had a static problem with all aluminum helicopters.

I went by the HP's and they were out of the lipo's. They are suppose to get more this Thursday.

The only machine that I know of that really had static issues from the tail belt was the Trex 500. People did various things to attempt to ground the tail (i.e. Van-De-Graf generator), but conversion to the torque tube seems to be the ultimate cure.

I remember the carbon nitro birds having issues. The stacked frame Raptor 60, and 90 has issues with it. The electronics have improved a lot since then so that helps too. They are not effected by it like they were. I remember the Futaba getting a lot of lock out from it. JR also had issue if you had the fail safe all set.

I had no issue because I could not afford the high dollar stuff. I was stuck with wood blades and a stock Raptor 30.

Where is everyone? Over a week and no posts.
Kevin, you had said you had broken a couple of motor shafts, I was wondering how that would happen, Well I found out:shock:. Had a crash the other day and broke it. Stripped the main gear good. Bent the main shaft so bad, I had a heck of a time getting it out. The one way bearing sleeve and bolt were twisted!! Had to take the main bearings out to get it out.
I had my original motor loose a bearing a little while back, so I took the shaft out and put it in, and it works fine now.
Sometimes theres a reason not to throw something out....might have a use for a part.

Wow , nasty crash.. what was the head speed on impact , full throttle?
ya, spare parts.. got a draw full
it's been rain here for a few days and the first nice day needed to wash (and ride) the bike;) maybe take a flight tomorrow. I added a "foil tape" to my main blades, needs to be tested.

I was in Idle up.....clipped a tree branch, then it hit concrete...missed the grass by a foot. Might not have been so bad if it hit grass. Was so fast didnt have time to hit throttle hold. Damn.

Concrete is so soft and gentle to our little birds

My first crash on pavement was with my Raptor 30. Idle up, 1850 RPM on the main blades, it exploded on contact. I ended up spend more in parts then a new kit. It was that bad. I had just a few parts that were not broken.

James, how far did the tree jump out to grab your Cypher? I bet it is a tree Like the kite eating tree from Charlie Brown

People who do not fly things near trees believe that trees can not move. This is a false belief. Trees do move. They are very agile too. They can cover 30 to 40 yards, plant themselves without any one seeing it. This is how they take their prey. We all know trees eat anything that flies. Planes, helicopters, kites and anything thrown. You need to be aware how close the tree is before you think they are out of range. They have a striking distance double their height. So a 50 foot tree can jump at least 100 feet.

I just got the Hobby People flyer in the mail. The 2200 battery is going for $15.00, .91 Fs engine is $100.00, Airtronics SD-10G is $300.00, Airtronics 5 channel Rx is $40.00, SD-5G is $90.00, a couple good deals on servos. I would like to have a handful of the 94761 digi's. They are a really good servo.

Well I have no cash for toys right now. I could go for a couple of the .91's, and a bunch of batteries.

Dru, I just got 3 of the nano-tech 2200mah 25-50C? batteries, say you can charge them at 5C....would cut charging time in 1/2. So now I have 6 2200mah batts.
If you want to meet to fly, you can use some of mine.
I just need some guidence. What you say?
And im going to order the 5ch rec. for the multiplex Twinstar 2 that I took the 8ch out of for the EXI500

Kevin, so I do not have to wade through all of this again, can you list the gyro, servo, again?

Did you set it up in rate mod and adjust the linkage for no drift then go into HH mode?

Damn James, I can not believe it has been this long. We talked about getting together way back when, Jan Feb or so. It is almost fall. Yes we do need to fly together.I have a few small things to do then I can plan a Saturday to meet and fly.

I watched my friend today with his Cypher. He flew a bit, a very long time ago, but started, essentially, from scratch again about three months ago.

He was doing Kaos's with a Cypher...

The flip roll rate in the Kaos was unbelievably fast.

I will try to get video in the near future.
