used up another gallon trying to get rid of some weird gyrations which were not there my first gallon and a half. i get a side to side fairly fast shimmy when quickly transitioning from fff to a hover. it lasts for about 3 sec. then settles down but only happens when i do a quick transition. if i gently slow from fff to a hover it doesn't happen. I've also been fighting constant tail bobbing in all but fff. I balanced and tracked the blades, played with the pitch curve to get the head speed from 1700 through 2000 and the bobbing is still there. Then i realized that it all started about the time i upgraded the stock head with the ksj spindle/thrust bearing kit and ergo grips. so i take it all off and go back to the sloppy stock parts and the problems disappear. smooth as can be now. any ideas on why the ksj parts are causing this? is it possible the old stock dampers are the problem? if so, why do the problems disappear when using the old grip assemblys with all the slop in them?

re-fit the KSJ headblock and look for any slop indicating the headblock has woblled and worn the hole egg-shaped.

i got it NO MORE WAG also i had to same things going on as you hueyman i had to have the help of my wife to fix it mine was a loose belt it was just loose enough that i had some strange movements too i had my wife tighten up the bolts in the boom as i pulled like hell it worked my rear is solid as a stone now.. matter a fact the whole bird is too  anyhow make sure the belt is TIGHT !!

maybe this will help :smokin:

199, glad you got your problem solved. mine is not a tail wag but rather a side to side shake, like someone holding the heli by the head button and rapidly pushing the skids left/right. A while back I adjusted belt tension and added a clamp to keep the boom from sliding back in but still had the shakes. I'm going to replace the one way as my onboard tach picks up the main gear rpm and i'm thinking the one way is slipping causing low head speed even though the tach reads 1800 - 2000. bumped into an an experienced heli jock and he felt the blades were well below my onboard tach readout. he felt it was a typical low head speed wobble. i increased throttle curve and the shakes went away. however, my onboard tach was reading 2250 and engine seemed to be screaming. still puzzled why the heli flys better with the sloppy old head parts. :dontknow Wayne, i pulled the head off the mainshaft...it's still a very tight fit.
