Hello...

I have my AXE400 tuned up and everything seems perfect, except for one thing. I think the ESC Brake is on? I know this because the motor will just "stop" after 7 or so minutes of flight... now it did sort of slow down like it's supposed to, but I didn't think it was just supposed to stop with a "thunk". This sounds like the ESC Brake is on.

So the question is, how do I turn it off... or, is this normal with this (or any) ESC?

I have looked online for instructions on programming the HMXM2009 ESC (the model on it) but I can't find anything. It is possible I have accidentally turned "on" the Brake, but I wondered if anyone had an opinion ot ideas.

I did the usual, "stick high on the Transmitter", Turn on, then turn on the Heli and wait for the beeps to lower the the Transmitter stick...

Thanks
Rich.

i think you are hitting the voltage cutt off.. take you battery and start with 4 min flights. then regharge, see how much mah you used then fly again bumbping the time up to 5 mins and so on till you use 80% of the mah of the battery. once you reach a time that uses 80% set your timer. but rember when you start doing more agressive flights your time might get shorter so keep an eye on the mah used

If you look at the manual for your radio on page 30. There is a section for battery failsafe. It explains in detail how to set the failsafe throttle level. Im my experience, you will hear a drop in rotor speed after about 6 or 7 minutes and then you have about one minute to land before the failsafe cuts out completely to save your lipos, which occurs when the flight battery drops to about 3.8v. With my first few flights with the RTF version, I didnt notice the drop in head speed since i was used to a cpv3. Its pretty subtle with the axe 400 and is nicer than the cpv3 since you wont just suddenly have a drop in head speed and land hard as with the cpv3, but if you didnt hear the speed drop, then the 400 will cut out completely. The question is do you really want to continue to drain your lipo and ruin it from disharging it too much. I left my failsafe at the default of zero and time my flights for 7 minutes and then land.

What battery are you using? I fly 2200 mah 20c packs and I only get 7min flight times at most! I think you are just killing the pack and thats why the moter stops with a clunk. set a timer and fly for 6:30sec then land and you will do your lipo and heli a favor.
