It's all cool now, power back on. Unconfirmed reports, three aircraft attacked, bombs dropped (confirmed!) on a building less than 1 klick from here, buckled our windows, all power down in the city. I saw the building hit. 20-30 Anti Aircraft positions opened up, sky full of red tracer. Casualties not known yet, it's 2345hrs here. All very exciting and yes, I know the money isn't worth it but it's not all about the money. I am responsible (security consultant) for a great bunch of guys (and one girl who is demanding repatriation immediately) and my actions help keep them safe.

Suprise suprise, job extended....apparantly still gonna get a break (under contract) but then its back to work, yep, I know there are others that can do this job but how many of you would up and leave everytime a job got abit tricky? Got to go out and re-assess our assets this morning but I can see the building that took a hit last night and I think movement in the city is going to be hard work. The LTTE are the worlds most innovative terrorist organisation and they certainly suprised the Sri Lankan government last night. They 'invented' the suicide bomb and still are the most prolific at it, we have had four since I have been on this job. Thanks for all your support last night guys

Ha ha Bobbybe, I hadn't thought about the coronary implications of my actions amongst the older folk! All got a bit exciting for a moment there but the city is cool now and the 'cost' fairly low considering the significance of the action. Few white faces at breakfast!

The BBC World News got through to me during the attack so I became a war correspondent for a while, I haven't heard myself but the others said they thought I was composed (I WASNT!). The shell that hit the tax office was clearly visible from where I was as the force of the explosion rocked our building.
I have some prettty exciting video but wouldn't know how to begin to post it here.

Anyway, all's well that ends well and I am on leave in a week from today...well earned!
