Just got this radio new. I have trouble taking out the battery for the transmitter. I tried to pull on the connector but it won't budge. What's wrong?

Thanks

The connector can be very tight so quite some force may be needed, but you should be able to nudge it apart eventually. Whatever you do don't pull by the wires as this surely will rip them lose from the connector and if you are unlucky you will not pull them apart completely but instead only loosen a few strands at a time so that you start to get glitches later on...

The positive side of this is that it probably makes good contact with the mating connector in the chassis. :)

Why are you trying to take it out?

Because I bought a used helicopter to train on and the guy sold me his radio too, a Futaba 8U. Since everything is set up already I kinda wanted to fly with his radio first before I sell it on Ebay.

But his battery is no good anymore.

I might have to use a tweezer to get it out.

I have always found hemostats to be the ticket for removing stubborn connectors. They tend to have narrow tips and fairly agressive jaws.

Ah ok that makes sense. Some people mistakenly think you have to remove the 9c battery to cycle it, but the 9c ships with a poly switch instead of a diode.

Do yourself a favor, stick the stock 600 mah battery in the 8U and send it on its way, order a 2000 mah NiMH transmitter pack for the 9c, I can go a whole weekend without recharging.

Local battery shop, custom made the pack out of sanyo cells.

You can get them on the net at http://www.hangtimes.com/txpacks.html

Common Sense Rc has a lipo for the transmitter that will last a few weeks of daily flying between charges.
