Hello:
I'm new here and to Helicopters.
I was wondering if I could use a Futaba T6XAs PCM Transmitter to control a Raptor 50/V2.
And if so, How should I set it up to learn how to hover and just fly (no 3D yet).
I own two of these PCM transmitters and I hate to have to buy another radio.
Curt
Thanks in advance for your time.

Yes the 6XAs can be used to control a heli. You will just need to go into the parameters in the programming menu and change to heli mode. The 6XAs will do mechanial mix swash in heli mode and also electronic mix for 120 deg CCPM.
Where are you located in Tennessee and maybe we can hook you up with someone near by to help you setup a heli to learn to fly.

Curt,
Yes a 6XA can be used to control a helicopter, but be forewarned that it is very marginal. Because of throttle curve limitations it is nearly impossible to set up a helicopter for anything more than forward flight and mild aerobatics, 3D is out of the question. I would suggest that if the budget allows you get a more capable transmitter. The new Futaba 7 channel, the new JR 6 channel and the Airtronics RD6000 are all much more capable than the 6XA. They are a little more money but well worth the extra expense.

Thanks for the fast replies.
I live in Athens, TN between Chattanooga and Knoxville. This is my 18th year flying fixed wing. I use to think helicopters were too expensive but after killing a $1300.00 1/4 scale DR1 that took me a year to build, I'm not so sure. Most of the planes I have now are 1/4 scale and larger WWI. I bought a GWS Feda fixed pitch and like flying it a lot and decided a gasser would be that much more fun. I thought about the new 7C Radio but I don't want to out grow the next radio I buy too soon. I've been eye-ball'n the 9C Futaba though.
I think I'm going with GY401 gyro w/S9254 servo. I was told the S9202 futaba servo would work well for all other functions but .26 speed seems very slow to me. For $30.00 more per servo I can get S9402's but that's another $120.00 for servos. Any suggestions?
The 9C comes with a 1k mAh which also seems inadequate. Any thoughts here?
Curt.

curt go to radical rc for your batteirs i have found they have the best prices. you can get a 1650 mah pac for 32.00 bucks. hey guy's if you no of a better place let use know. and for the servo's 9254 for the tail and the least i would go for the rest of them would be 9202. and you can get by with the 3001 on the throtle. if you get the 9c with the servo's they will be junk. the 3001 want handle the load. trust me been there done that.

Go for the 9252's for collective and aileron and elevator over the 9202's. They center a lot better and are a lot quicker and more powerful and only cost a little more than 9202's do now. The servos that come with your radio will do fine on throttle in the beginning.
