TREX 600 LIVE and UNCUT - with crash eval!

Laurens..... my experience with pack life is directly related to how hot they get. If they dont get hot they are handling the AMP draw. I know both of the flights shown in the vid were short but the packs were BEARLY warm.

Hopefully this weekend will be a full flying vid and I will heat gun the motor and packs. At this point I am saying it does seem like it will run reliably with 6S2P based on what I saw last weekend..... Again this weekend should be a better example......

I have got nothing from Andy or Align free EVER. As for hanging out..... He shows up at where I fly and I am going to film him. So you know that is the first time I have seen Andy or talked with him in over 2 months.....

So take your accusations and go put them on Runryder where they are better appreciated.

There is nothing I say in that video that is untrue. Those were my perceptions and the video is UNCUT and live. I removed nothing or changed anything. If you saw another crack in the frame so be it... I do not care. The video was to show a crash and for people to make their own evaluations about the heli with NO STAGED planning....
Frank from Align PM'ed me about the crack in the frame and asked that I state it was from a previous crash... I have no reason NOT to believe him as I know him personally.

You are free to have your doubts, free to call BS, free to make an opinion about the heli, etc.... but keep the personal unfounded accusations somewhere else.

I've said this over on rcgroups along with a few others. Unless they found some magical way to get the amp draw down, those packs wont survive many cycles. No matter how you look at it, 600mm blades are too big for reliable 6s2p use. The graphs Align has released so far confirm this.

The 16C Align cells are SAEHAN cells, the same as the Thunder Power Pro-Lite packs. Charlie Wang has already admitted serveral times on rcgroups that you'll get ONE cycle at a continuous 15C. So at 11-13C+ these cells are continuously running at I'd expect 25-30 cycles.

Another thing not really mentioned is, Danny Szabo has already had one puff. He said 6-7 cycles on the second pack and it seems fine so far. Mark my words...there will be lots of complaints and lots of "mine are working fine" in the near future.

I personally do not plan to own one of these for myself... I may do a build video but I wont be flying one as I am just not interested in a 50 sized electric. However as I see more and more of them fly I will be reporting back on user experience.... So in the end we will all know the hard facts as people start flying them.

If you check rcgroups history I was one of the first testing diffrent motor/pack combos for the 450X. Yes there were legit doubts back then and as battery technology evolved the smaller packs were suddenly an option once again. Maybe the same will be true for the 600/6s2p setup but at this time 8s 4200 mah+ will be required for consistent functionality and longevity.

I personally hope to test the 600 with the new Emoli cells...they worked great on my Swift, much more durable, quicker charge time, decent 3D performance and about half the cost of current lipolys....only downside is you have to partially disassemble/resassemble drill batteries as there are no alternative options as of yet.

why not just go 10s with a 10s motor? The heli seems to fly pretty well, stick a decent setup in it, done!

ok, as far as 6s on 600mm blades, these are NOT standard blades. The blades being used are a new version of electric V Blades. Most blade sets run about 150-160grams i believe (correct me if I'm wrong). The blades being flown on the 600 are ranging from 124-135 i believe.

As far as battery life, we have had well over 30 cycles on each pack. In Tiwan, they Jason Krause and Alan Szabo flew their helis all day long, for days without problems from the batteries. I don't know if you're familiar with pilots flying style, but although Alan may have collective management skills, he is by no means easy on the sticks. I've seen the 600 being flown for weeks now, and we have not had any problems with battery falures or drop offs in power, and i can definately say that the 600 has way more power on 6s than my evo 50 w/torque tube, and an os 50 hyper


10 s has been tried, and it did create lots of power, the problem was that the weight of the extra cells did not allow the heli to be as nimble as it is on 6s

Bob has absolutely nothing to do with Align's distributers, and when he comes into the shop, i charge him full price just like any other customers, and if he's giving me a hard time, i tack on a few bucks so i can get lunch :wink:

I too have visited forums for over 5 years hoping to gain knowledge and information, and if i were here knowingly lieing to you, then point it out to me, and i will no longer visit this forum. But DO NOT accuse good stand up citizens in our comunity of lieing. I have personally known Bob for over two years now, even before we had even heard of a t-rex, and he has done nothing but help people in this hobby suceed (including myself). I have gone to the field many weekends and seen Bob have people lineing up to have him work on their helis, and he will go home without flying at all, if it means he can help someone else.

I'm sorry if it looked like I was attacking Bob, but I wasn't. I just want to see Align get the right message before they push these packs too far. The cells are overrated at 16C cont.

I talked with Nick Maxwell last night and he mentioned the new prototype 600's. He also said they are available as of right now but are a special order. This is a good step but I fear light 550's would be closer to what I'd consider reliable and consistent. Hopefully they post a new graph with these blades.

FYI if you review kit, free stuff is par for the course, as is shmoozing with PRs and distros. It's not even like he's sitting here taking about how damn good the 600 is; he's just posting a vid he took of someone flying one. As far as I can tell you're getting some reasonable insider information that a reviewer couldn't give you, due to having signing a non disclosure agreement (NDA).

Your observations on the frame are well spotted and valid, but I don't think they called for the comment. ^_^ <3 etc.

yes, standard servos are used (have been used in testing, but it is also designed to use servos like 9650's, ect.

AUW with full size servos, and a 611 gyro, came to 6.8lbs tonight

I have been a gas planker for a long time and have stayed away from electrics. I am trying to learn as much as I can before making this large of an investment. It will probably be years before I can 3D, so am i going to look forward to spending 2 to 300.00 every couple of months if I decide to with the T600?

At times I'd like to see an average 3D flyer flying a heli. About what I'd expect, collective management looked good. If someone's flipping without going to far from were initiated he done well. :wink: Crash can hapen to most anyone if their pushing their personal limits to improve (Saw many top flyers go in also)

So JD, what if Finless gets a free chopper/stuff once in a while to build and show us noobs how to do it.

It gains and supports the hobby and get more people in to helis. I cannot see that from getting a better and bigger marked for the manufacturer, they will keep on building better and better kits for us.

Finless does a great deal for the whole community, R&D and it will come down to gain us all in the end.

Free stuff, yes please, its our hobby and to get some goddies....

Maybe you have to pay for it all, and it hurts too much to see others get some goodies you also would like. There is a name for that... eh forget it :badair:
