Bob I find all of your videos PRICELESS. I'm an old guy (59) (VietNamVetCrewChief-UH1-D) new to the hobby (3-months of RFG3.5 sim time) w/2 Walkera 68B's (1 always under repair) and just received the 450SE new v2 and fearful of the 1st flight. My 3D flights are still accidental. rrj

rrjunky, hey I am 48 so not too far behind ya..... It takes longer to learn than when we were freakin 20 but we still can learn and the beauty is... WE CAN AFFORD to have fun and unlike a 20 year old we are in no rush :)

Go at your own pace, enjoy it, and have fun! Thats what I do :)

20 year olds are flashy but us guys know the real deal dont we ;)

Hi Bob,

im loving this, as well as all your other videos. I would love some more, showing various basic exercises for those like myself trying to move beyond the hover stage. A video showing figure 8's would be ace :glasses2:

Hi Bob,

Great thing your doing this!
Absolutely helpful for beginners (like me).
I'm doing figure eights now, And haven't crashed my mini-titan, so far that is....
They are a breeze in the SIM but IRL it's a different story though (fear factor).
Especially the slow hovering ones, where you have problems with the wind and maintaining altitude.

Please keep them coming.

Please show us these exercizes! Your first 3 videos with the simulator were excellent.

[I'm just discovering HeliFreak. Such a great place. all your other reviews and videos are excellent, too.
btw; I try to control a Caliber M24 & the Aerofly Pro Simulator.]

I would like to start by saying thanks to Finless Bob on the videos that will help me on the build of my new TRex 450SE V2, it is in the mail to me here in Trenton, Ontario. I have a person in my local club that already has the V1 TRex 450SE and we are going to use the videos and his skill to get mine flying soon after I get it. I have been flying my first heli the Art-Tech Falcon 3D and have crashed it a number of times and repaired it. I just upgraded my flight sim from the Great Planes G2 Lite to the Aerofly Pro Deluxe and what a difference. I am new to the art of heli flying but received my wings on fixed wing aircraft back in 1995. We are going to use a training cord between his Spektrum DX7 and my DX7 until I get the feel of the TRex 450SE V2. Thanks again and I will post something after my first few flights. I plan on still flying the crap out of my Falcon 3D and using it as a trainer and hovering learner until I can't fix it anymore or it is too expensive on the repairs.
Does anyone know of a great helicopter to train on in Aerofly Pro Deluxe? If so, what is the file name and from what site can I down load it from?

Hey Bob!

Great videos! I'm about to purchase a sim but not sure which one to choose. G3, Phoenix or Reflex? I'm inclined into buying one with a control included rather than using my Optic 6 transmitter basically because of not draining my battery daily and risking it to get damaged on a computer desk. What's your though on these two points?

Thanks and keep us teaching us all!

I have the Aerofly Pro Deluxe and it is PHINOMINAL!!! I started out with Great Planes G2 and this puts it to shame. If you want to get serious training value for your money, then buy the Aerofly Pro Deluxe. The helis and other aircraft fly more realistic then any of the more popular sims. You plug in your own radio and can use the programming in it like exponential and others to help in your quest to get better with every flight. There is a plethera of add ons and they are all free. The flying fields and mostly, if not all, are photo realistic and a dream to fly at. As for the helis, some are a hit and some are a miss when it comes to them landing realistic or not, but great training when in the air. I have been learning on the Raptor 30 and love it as you need to be giving it inputs all the time. This is great for training the thumbs to move automatically without thought. There are allot of things that you can change when you get into the model tweaking. This is my view and take it from someone that has been flying fixed wing for quite awhile and is new to the helicopter world.

Ok, I used my CPP as a sim, now I got the TREX, I better go buy the real sim. Any other recommendations ? I am up to starting figure 8's. and 45* hovers. No head in yet. Except for the ones I did by mistake.

Yep, should have got the DX7!!!

When I received my HS65HB servos, one of them was dead out of the box. I need to send it back to them to get it replaced. Other then that, my new TRex 450SE V2 is ready to have my test pilot give it its first flight.

excellent training videos I think you should keep doing them.

I seem to always be wondering and either I am too slow on the inputs or to jerky and don't want it to get out of control so I let it wonder. It is hard to get a really great view of the front, side and back in the sim. When I am outside with my Falcon 3D I find it easier to get into a great position to view it all.

I hope I have all of your videos!
I have learned a lot about heli and how to set them up.
You have done a great job of explaining a very mysterious subject.
I am still setting up my Trex, stalling and waiting on my nerves to stabilize!

Please let me know if you think these are worth while, thoughts and suggestions, and if I should continue doing these?

Finless,
These are definately worthwhile. I've been tinkering around in the simulator and outside but, was not quite sure that I was attempting to do a co-ordinated turn correctly. Well, after watching your vid, I found that I was not that far off. :)
In short, I had set a goal for myself to be able to fly a circuit and a figure-8 before the end of the year. I wasn't sure that I would be able to reach this goal due to how very little free time I have had so far this year.
Just a few days ago, I went to a field (said "what the h-e-double hockey sticks") and flew a couple circuits and a few figure-8's!!
(messy but.. :) )
Your video on FF instilled a bit of confidence when I saw that I was actually moving the sticks in the right direction. :)

Not bad for teaching myself how to fly these heli's :) (havent flown a plane in about 15 yrs either ;) )

Thank you for all your hard work. :cheers
-Chris

Suggestions...maybe some vids with emphasis on clean flight? Tips/technique/transitions etc. Everyone wants to learn tricks (me included) but, I think those come with time and will look just that much better if you can fly cleanly.

Hey Bob, the vids are great. How about some basic aerobatics. I haven't had the guts to try a loop yet, cause I don't know what kind of inputs I need. Thanms and keep up the great vids

thanks Bob! these videos are a GREAT help, just as good as the build videos in my opinion!

I watched the first few a couple of weeks ago and have been anxiously waiting to see if you had time for any more, thanks again!
