OK I get asked all the time for flight training videos...
Please let me know if you think these are worth while, thoughts and suggestions, and if I should continue doing these?

NEW 9/30/2007 - "STICK CAM" training video - Basic Loops, Rolls, and Flips
Video Link ->"Stick Cam" - Basic Loops, Rolls, and Flips (40 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/training&filename=loopsrolls.wmv)

9/2007 - Autos in real life with "STICK CAM" showing the sticks
First up is how to learn to do Auto Rotations in REAL LIFE.
It's how to shoot autos in REAL LIFE and I did a picture in picture showing my sticks while doing them. As you can see jamming the negative is NOT the key as this vid shows.
VIDEO -> Learning to shoot autos on a 450 and showing the sticks (39 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/training&filename=autos_sticks.wmv)

9/2007 - Jason Bell "STICK CAM" training videos
OK Jason gave me the opportunity to video him and use a second camera to video the sticks. Check out the "CRACK" Piro Flips, Rainbows, and Hurricanes!
Video Link ->Jason Bell "Stick Cam" - Buzzin the Border September 2007 (50 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/bborder2007&filename=jbellsticks.wmv)

Jason Bell doing Trex450 "STICK CAM" training
Video Link ->Jason Bell Trex450 with "Stick Cam" - (32 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/bborder2007&filename=bell450stick.wmv)

9/2007 - Learning basic loops
Learning basic loops using the simulator (28 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/training&filename=loops.wmv)

Added 7/2006
BASIC hover training (19 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/training&filename=hovertraining.wmv)

Auto training using the sim G2. G3.5 for some reason is not very realisitic in my opinion.
Learning to do Auto Rotations (17 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/training&filename=autorotations.wmv)

Next up...
Learning Forward flight and transition back to hover (19 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/training&filename=fftraining.wmv)

Great idea using the sim to demonstrate training videos Bob. The Audio is great and having the ability to see the sticks helps too.

You hit on a good approach bob. Keep making them on every flight trick. Us newbies will study them to death!

Thanks

Bob, very nice indeed! What model of heli are you using, and is that G2 or G3?

Finless

The simulator is G2 because I can record to AVI (movies) without a huge graphic loss to do so... (it's complicated). I also have G3 and Reflex but find recording to movies causes jerky movies....

The heli is part of add-ons 3 and that is the Raptor 60 with my own custom edited canopy ;)

OK since people seem to like this format I will continue! I just posted a link to a vid on learning forward flight and transition to hover.

Again please..... Are these worth while?

I have been waiting for someone to do this for years.

In the future maybe you could go through a few parts of setting G2 up so the heli is more realistic. Maybe the TREX.

I used G2 for a year before G3 and XTR came out.....

In my opinion you will need the add-on disk for G2 that gives you the Raptor 60 (add-ons 3 as I recall). Any other heli just doesnt seem to fly as close to real life in my opinion. I tried tweaking other helis to get them to be more lfe like but alas the Raptor 60 just works better.

What about the Spitzer 4-stroke heli? I know it has a 4 stroke with a lower head speed, but it sure is stable. The only add in module I bought was the Caliber 30 because I have a real one. It seems to be very close to the real thing also. What other heli's did you try on the sim and how would you rate them from good to bad? Thanks for your help Bob!

hi bob! excellent work again on the sim training vids, another winner from you.

since you really have the knack for instruction and presenting it in a clear manner, i was hoping it would be possible if you could so the ff training vids on the sim especially for newbies such as me.

suggested training simulator vids:

1. how to hover (tail-in)
2. hovering progression to nose-in, side-in, etc.
3. ff
4. progressive steps after ff
5. simple aerobatics
6. complicated aero
7. 3d :)

i know it's a lot of work, and if in case you do the vids, i'd like to thank you in advance on behalf of all newbies :)

cheers

Hi Finless,

These training video's are a great idea. I really appreciate the control movement and saying the name of the manuver. I did not really know what a funnel was. I would not mind seeing what a hurricane's and tic toc's are... hint, hint

Cheers,
Leslie

Shauntot, your ides sound great I will do them!

Leslie... I will be able to take you to loops, rolls, inverted hover, inverted FF, backwards and backwards inverted. I cannot do consistant tail in funnels or Piro-flips (Kaos) yet, Oh and my hurricanes dont look too good as I have a hell of a time keeping the same alititude.... When I can do those things, I will make a training video :)

Hi Bob,

No problem on the advanced stuff. I'm still trying to conquer backwards flying. I really have a hard time with this. It's pouring this weekend so I'm getting alot of simulated stick time. Backwards is starting to gel.

cheers,
Leslie
