has anyone herd that you should cycle zippy packs 3 times before flying them?

Not me.. what happens if you don't?.. They are pretty inexpensive

my thought exactly. my one flying buddy told my bro about it. he'll ask him when he talks to him next time.

The general advice is to keep thefirst 4 or 5 flights with any pack about half the normal length and not heavy drain (gentle flight) - not just Zippy's but any lipo

so me still learning to hover, but going to 3.3v per cell is working them too hard?

why the 1/2 pack drain?

some people feel that breaking in a pack by taking 50% out the first few cycles makes them last longer... has it been proven in a lab... no... but does it hurt... no...so the first 4 or 5 hovers on the pack.. take it real easy on it...

also... 3.3v is a little low- it's just above where the low voltage cutoff would kick in. i try to stay above 3.7 when flying- it'll make your packs last longer

my LVC is set for 2.9v :D

My Zippy's come down between 3.7 and 3.8v/cell after 7-8 min flights, hovering and precision (maybe) scale-type manuevers. LiPoS like to be cycled regularily, setting is not good but if ya gotta - discharge 'em to 'storage' first. If I found a cell @ 3.3v I'd be looking for a problem :glasses2:

I find that if I take my lipos down below about 3.7V they start getting out of balance, down to that point they stay pretty even - I'm not sure what it signifies (if anything), but I thought I'd mention it

i'll be getting a egg timer tomorrow. what a shame though. i liked the little bug. oh well. i could use the timer on my dx7, but in my bro's basement the trex is louder than the buzzer.

just to be certain. 3.3 during flight is too low. not sure what it is when i land it after the green light goes red during flight.

well i would say that if you want your batteries to last long and treat you well then 3.3 is a little too low. but if you were getting 10 minutes, try 7 and see how much it takes out. i'm at around 3.7-3.8 after 5 mins of hard flying but i bet hovering, or better yet ff, would allow for a couple extra minutes
