9C primary and 9Z as the buddy box radio

My son took his 9Z on vacation with his T-rex and a friend in Ct wants Steven to put him up on a buddy box.

Question, the friend has a 9C on his heli, will Steven need to build a model in his 9Z to buddy box with the 9C? he has a sync module in the 9Z and I could walk him through programming the Z to fully operate the heli that the 9C is on but I just want to verify that is what we need to do.

I know with the pair of Hitec Eclipse 7's I have I needed to create and exact copy on both radios to buddy box and only turn one on as the primary, I'm guessing this is going to be the same deal?
