I am just starting to break in this engine. I'm using white gas and wonder if the stock needgle settings are ok for break-in or should I adjust. It seems to idle fine, I see the fuel tank has waves from vibration is this normal for this machine.
Thanks

I think that I would turn them in all the way and then back out 1 1/2 turns to make sure that your ok. I don't think I would trust the factory to have them set where they need to be. Then you can turn them in a little as you break it in.

Brett, so your Spectra vibrate like a cell phone on "vibe"? Is that normal for this machine?

Both to 1.5 turns out ?

Yes both. I'm no expert but I think that would be a good spot to start at. Most people have told me to put them at 1 3/8 turns out on Both of them but that is after the engine is broken in.

Does the vibration decrease after broken in?

visit the Spectra page on the Miniature Aircraft website. There is a link to download the Operators Guide, which will help you get started.
You will find that the motor runs better and smoother as you get closer to about 5 gallons being run through it.
It will NEVER be as smooth as a .61 but properly setup, you won't see any vibration while its flying.

Well should have left them alone, factory settings were good as it was flying well last week now its not running well at all and to top it off after pulling the plug to clear flooding the damb thing is arcing.

Sorry it messed you up but just turning them in and then back out shouldn't have caused a problem. If you think it did then put them back where they were. That is if you know where they were.

Yep, thats what I did. In the course of it all the thing flooded somehow so I had to pull the plug and that when this spark jumping issue started. I need to find the right boot to use but apparently no one has had a similar experiance to lend suggestions. Will keep you posted as to what I find.
Thanks

You need to remove the spark plug shield wire (braided wire) that is supplied with the kit. Someone thought it was a good idea but that is what is causing your arcing. Put it back to stock configuration with the stock boot for the engine and there will be no issues running it that way.
Next please read my post about the delrin spacer on the clutch causing an out of round situation and the motor to wobble. In short, take out the spart plug and pull the motor through with the pull starter. Look at the motor aircleaner or muffler and see if you notice any movement as you pull the motor through. Mine used to "wobble" a bit and the problem was the delrin ball. I had a "washing machine" effect in my fuel and when I went to idle up 2 (1750 rpms) it went to a large tidal wave effect. :-)
Fixing the delrin ball issue has seriously reduced the vibrations and the fuel tank now looks similar to my 1005 gasser in flight. No more tidal waves in there!!
