He did everything right. helicopter went nuts, he gained altitude, hit throttle hold, and then things devolved from there. Very lucky.

That was a nice catch! If you read the description it says the esc wasn't set up properly before the flight. And he did hit throttle hold too, it's not like he catched it with power on.
