Welp last night I felw the ZOOM 400. WOWEE!!!!!!! I finally found what I have been looking for !!!!!. This thing is so incredibly cool. Darral I found something that I don't have to modify :-)

It came out of the box 90% assembled with a speed 400 can motor mounted already. all I did was install 3 HS-55's on the pitch-elevator/aileron and 1 HS-50 glued right to the vertical tail fin for the shortest possible tail pitch rod. I used an Ikarus 30 amp brushed speed control I had lying around, a GY240 and a Berg5 DSP G2 and a Model Avionics Whip antenna. and Thunder Tech 1500 li-po cell

This bird is SOOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOO stable !!! It was at least as stable as my Hawk !!!!. mostly because of the flybar weights. 2 clicks of forward elevator and 3 clicks of right Cyclic and the thig hovers hands off !!!. It flew sooo well I can't stop smiling as I write this :-) :-) :-).
The swashplate control is surprisngly accurate !!

The stock 400 motor works really well for "normal" flying and slight areobatics. The only thing I am going to change in a couple of weeks is go to 3D style tail fins for a faster piro, and a Himax 4200 Brushless motor, Castle Creations Phoenix 25 and motor heatsink. That is all that needs to happen,,,,, well maybe a set of carbon blades.....

I painted this thing in dayglow colors and is soo easy to see in the sun. Cannopy and tail fins and paddles are neon orange, boom braces, main blades and tail blades I misted with neon green.

I flew it last night and it was about 5-10 MPH wind gusts... it was alittle tricky but It flew well. this morning the first thing on my mind was to get my ass out of bed at 5:30a.m. take a shower, and ran into "my hobby shop" room grabbed the zoom and went out doors... there was no wind this morning and the Zoom was AWESOME!!!! This the funnest time I have had since I got into heli's.

Darral if you want a micro that you will be impressed with and want to fly like like ANY of your other ships.... this is the one to get. I have a feeling you will be dissapointed with the Hummer.......

I have a bad feeling that the Hornet is going to have to be regulary dusted off from neglect........

Personally I just have not told my lady about the zoom yet.. hehe I think she just thinks it's my hornet with a colorful painjob... Shhh... :-)

Hey Super Dave,

Glad you are having alot more luck than I have with the Shogun/Zoom. I think if I had just gone stock with the little beast it might have cured some of my anxiety ! hehehehe

What pitch/throttle curves are you using?

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments. yeah I set mine up all stock with the stock motor and it was beatiful !!!. since I have installed a belt drive conversion on the tail. I got the kit fomr HUBDAVE over at RC Groups. I like it much better, no more tail gear issues. I'll try to post some pics here as soon as I learn how..

I guess you can see from my signature that I had since installed the brushless setups.. hehe I only did that because I live in Morgan hill and is always 10-15 MPH winds and I wanted to do 3D pretty close to the ground..... so I needed more power. works great and is the best little CP e-heli I got.

Guys,
I just keep thinking why the tops of Tunder Tiger (60 and above) are shaft systems and the 30 - 50 are belt drives and you´re migrating contrary...
... it´s not that I think you´re doing a mistake, I just don´t understand. If you can clarify this to me, I´ll appreciate.

I don't understand your question.

are you talking about me going to a belt driven tail?

that is because the shaft drive gears were very fragile and instead of messing around and getting it just right I blew the whole shaft out and went to a proven belt drive setup. now I can land in tall grass without fear of stripping anything.

Humm, and what about to purchasing that gear from Curly?

Do you all think that this motor would work good for Shogun?

Mega Motor 16/15/4

The worry free flying I now have thanks to belt drive is soo awesome for me.

plus I love to tinker so really enjoyed fitting the belt drive.

the zoom is fine as is but I wanted to fly it hard.

I have not heard of anyone using that motor.

I have a 16/15/3 but I think it is too large to mount in the stock location.

Hey Super,

wich of these ( http://www.backyardflying.com/securestore/c194694.2.html ) you think will fit as a glove on a Shogun?
I´m insisting on this site, because the prices are very atractive.....

the himax 2025-4200 or 2025-5300 4,200 RPM per volt & 5,300 RPM per volt repectivley.

They will need a heatsink though.

Super, in advance I apologize for the bunch of questions, butinfo here in Brasil are

very hard to find...

Well, I guess that I can use any of them with the "CC Phoenix 25". Is it true?

May I use my 5,1g servos with 700g torque on all required (I think are 4)

for the Shogun?

not a problem Pipefish, that's why I joined this forrum.

Yes the CC25 is the way to go.

not sure what servos you are speaking of, but the BEST results are from using
HS-56 servos on the Cyclic functions (2) a standard HS-55 on the pitch, and a High speed HS-50 for the tail.

Some people might have other suggestions but I find this to be awesome !!
also I use a GY240 or 401 on my zoom for really good tail locking.

Yes, I think I´ll buy a 401 for my Raptor 30 and take the 204 that is already on it

to the Shogs. In the case of choosing between the 5300 or the 4200, the best is the

5300, isn´t it?

more speed does not always mean "the best" it really depends on the flight times and type of flying you will be doing. More people use the 4200, that's what I use.
and it has TONS of power.

Hummm, interesting point, I´m looking toward flight times... so , maybe 4200 will

work better.

I´m looking for an electric Heli because I´m disapointed with my Draganfly (that one of 4 rotors) from Rc Toys......

Super Dave

yep the 4200 with a 9 tooth pinion and a Lithium Polymer battery pack. I use a 3Cell Kokam 1500 pack and get around 10-15 minutes of flight time. which is a good amount

I haven´t saw the last msg.

I agree with ya, is expensive...

... I cannot fly with mine on 10MPH winds, but it gots a Wiereless cam that is so cool.

You know, I did not bought my Shogun yet.

I think I´ll buy the BL and ESC from Backyardflying.com and the Shogun on the Heli Hobby , that sells it for 199,99 + 2 extra blades and 4 CNC pieces. What about it? HeliHobby is trustable?
