First you go into G2 and tell it you want to "make new color scheme" then you have to copy the files (skins) to the correct folder and restart g2.
They should now be there. Been a while since i've done it though

3. i named the color scheme to the name of the new skin file, then hit reload,

the folder for G2 should be named colorschemes. If you haven't created or downloaded any colorschemes you will need to create this folder as this folder is not in G2 originaly. If you are going to make a colorscheme you have to select the aircraft first, then after you have the rite aircraft loaded in G2 go to the edit section and select create new scheme. You will be prompted to make up a name for the scheme. After you have used what ever program you are useing to create the scheme (paint shop pro, photo shop, etc.) all you have to do is restart G2 and the scheme will load by it self when you go to use it.

you are correct, the new folder created did bit work, i will try your instructions, thanks, question, under the pull down menu color scheme, do i type up the name of the file of the skin, that is in the color scheme folder? then do i click on reload? the skins that i have is made from someone else i just saved it to my color schemes folder, is this also correct?

You can just sellect the colorscheme from the list and load the aircraft as you normaly would. The colorscheme will load/reload with the aircraft.

i guess i am doing something wrong still it will not work, scheme is still green for foiler. what i dd...
1. select aircraft, make new scheme, named it the same file name as it appears in
colorscheme folder, (ie, g2d)
2. then the file g2d is in the selection list, then hit okay, but skin is still the default,
close g2 program, restart g2, it does say my file(g2d) when program is starting
but again skin is the same.
3. also tried clicking on reload after selection, but nothing happens,
4. any idea what i am doing wrong. thanks,.

OK, did you use an editing program like paint shop pro to edit the colorscheme? If so what program? When you select make new scheme it uses the colorscheme that is selected on the aircraft at that time. So if you had the green 8ball scheme on at the time, that's the scheme that you will have to edit in your editing program, or if you downloaded a scheme the name of that scheme should show up in the list. Let me know if you need more detailed help.

the downloaded skin file name, its on the list of aircraft, and no, i am not using any type of edting program,(did not know if i need to), so i need to 'edit' the aircraft scheme? so i figured the easier way was to download a skin from someone else's file, but it will not load the new skin still. thanks for you help.

OK, Did you download the scheme in question? Or did you just click on create new scheme(with the green 8ball foiler scheme on the heli)and name it (g2d) without editing it? What schemes have you tried to download and from where? It could be as simple as a mis-placed file. Also are the files you downloaded zipped? If they are they need to be unzipped before they will work.

still wont work, i downloaded from someone's gallery, then click new scheme, name it same as file, i downloaded the file name in to realflight's colorscheme folder, and 'no' did not edit, i did check to see if they were needed to be unzip, still did not work, no luck, thanks for your help, any more advice would be greatly apprecited.
ps, lets say i wanted to start from scratch forget everything so far, what steps in order should i be doing to get it change? thanks,

If you downloaded it from someones gallery it should show up without you having to create a new scheme. That might be the problem. When you click on create new scheme whatever scheme is on the heli at the time will be what the newly named scheme will look like until it is edited. So for example the green 8ball is the scheme on the heli at the time you created the new name/scheme. That's what you will get when you load the new named scheme until you edit the apperence of the 8ball scheme. Try this. Start all over. Delete the file for the scheme and make sure the name is no longer in the list. Then down load the scheme from the gallery and place it(unzipped)in the colorscheme folder in RF. DO NOT make up a new scheme threw create new scheme. Look to see if the name of the scheme you downloaded is in the list(it should be) then give it a try.

well, i cleared everything, went to realflight site, downloaded couple skins to my colorscheme foler, unzipped them, still did not show up on my list, then clicked edit, ask me to make a copy first, did that, i named the same as the downloaded file name, then tried to close and restart or reload, or anything else, still the same skin? i guess i'm missing or doing something wrong

This might be a stupid question but.... when you unzipped the files did you unzip them directly to the colorscheme folder or did you use the defalt settings then drag them from the unzipped folder to the RF folder?

Just makking sure you either unzipped them to the colorscheme folder or took them from the unzipped foler and put them into the colorscheme folder. either way I'm not sure why they would not work or show up. You do have the add-on for the colorscheme in question if needed rite?

Try and download one from my site useing the download instructions I have in the lower right corner of the home page. I want to see if the problem is the source you are trying to get them from or if it's something on your end. If the one from my site works try following my download instructions to get it to work from the other source. Let me know how you make out.

You DO NOT have to go to "create new scheme" and name a new scheme the same name as the one you are downloading. All you have to do is download and save to the colorscheme folder (unzipped) and it will be there. I think that's the problem you are having. When you go to the "create new scheme" it will re-name the scheme choosen(in your case the green 8ball foiler) so when you download a scheme then go to "create new scheme" and name it the same name as the scheme you downloaded, you are replacing/over riding that scheme with the green 8ball that's on the heli at that time. Just pick a scheme, save it to the colorscheme folder (unzipped) then re-start G2 and check the list. It should be there. Just sellect it from the list and it will load.

I see in your profile that you do not have AIM. It's a free download from http://www.AOL.com If you get set up with AIM I might be able to walk you through it and see where it is that you're going wrong. It would be alot easier to IM to solve this than to post back and forth. Let me know.

No, it's ok. Just thought it would be easier to IM then to send messages back and forth.
