after assembling my 700 i discovered that my tail rotor is not perpendicular to the main shaft i think it is 80-85 degrees.
although i fitted the boom all the way in its place and locked also did the same with the tail box i am in this situation,
has anyone encountered this problem?
please help!!

I dont know why but my carbon boom was like this. When i put the aluminum boom on it was perfectly straight. i think some of the booms may have the slots cut slightly off 90deg. you may want to check that.

Align some times gets that alignment hole in the boom off... Seen many 700 like that. You have to file the hole oblong to fix it.

hi Bob! thank you for replying, the previous owner had no problems from that missalignment during flight (3d), i tried both carbon and metal booms but tail shaft is a litle off either way.
should i trust him and see results during flight or proceed with drilling?

This is a well known problem on th ecarbon boom. elongate the hole in the boom using a file, twist straight (tailcase at 90) and then pin the tail too

You don't have to drill it. Just use a file or emerald paper to open up the "U" shape of the boom so that it can rotate a little in the boom mount casing.

what if i leave like this? my metal boom seems to be a little less off than the carbon boom, would there be any side effects during flight?

I very much doubt it to be honest, unless you are Szabo standard you probably wouldnt notice it.

is pinning the boom on the 700 necessary?

Neccesary? Who knows.

Worth it to not worry about it? Yes.

Depends how fast you piro and how often you check your nuts  - I think it is worthwhile on the CF boom as they always seems a little slippy even though they also seem a whisker oversize - on the ali boom I haven't bothered.

As fas as the tail rotor being a bit off perpendicular unless you're doing precision 3D you probably won't notice as your thumbs likely to introduce more variation than the angle - in theory it could produce changes in pitch with changes in HS as you are introducing a (tiny) vertical component to the thrust.

could not held myself and i did the drilling process at the rear end.
i stretched a little bit the hole downwards and voila!!! as soon as i fixed the two tailfin screws the tail shaft is now perpendicular.
