Default Tail Setup/Servo

Ok, So I have my 401 setup now, and wowee what a piece of kit! Superb! Just
recieved my 9257 servo, so to my question... Reading for countless hours on here, I notice that the way forward is to boom mount the servo. Can anyone enlighten me as to the benefits/ pros/cons to doing it this way? I guess the pros must outway the cons? And presumably if you go this way, you would need to find a shorter control rod? Any help/info appreciated...
Cheers
Chris

it helps with the CG a bit i have noticed...the reason i did it was i didnt really see any other options with the servo i went with (s9650 w/gy401). so i got the trex 450 servo mount for the tail.. i had the guy at the LHS make me a connecting rod. but with my old one i was able to boil it and pull the end off then cut it and CA the ball link connector back on.
