I like getting a subscription to a magazine for my specific hobbies. I subscribe to Bicycling (cos I love to ride and I want to see what is out there and learn more about cycling), Yoga Journal (Yeah I do yoga...) and of course get the AMA magazine.
ALSO I was in Barnes and Noble looking for the latest Quite flyer because my picture is in the SEFF layout..(have not see it but I heard it is a flattering pic) and I saw the magainze called RC Heli. Anyone subscribe? Is it worth getting, I ask because it is only 6 issues a year.
Thanks :)

I'm about to subscribe to it. It's growing nicely in quality and size. I don't think they've been in print for very long now.

Yeah, been considering RC Heli as well. I asked a while back about other member's opinions on magazines and most didn't seem to care for RC Heli much - or rather their marketing tactics. I bought an issue and I was pretty happy with the content in there. They are tailored more to the beginner, which I find helpful, being a newb, myself. I think they've only published 4 or 5 issues now, so yes, they are definitely just getting started. My only complaints are 6 issues a year (but then so are 90% of the other heli mags), and so far the reader's rides section called 'The hanger' seems to be 80% Raptors! Well yeah, they're popular for newbs, but seeing the same thing gets old.
Check out this thread. I was in the same shoes.

Anyway, after I buy the next issue new of RC Heli, to check it out and make a final decision, I will probably become a subscriber. So far I like what I see.
So I should also be looking to pick up a copy of Quiet Flyer eh?
Wren, your sig cracks me up!

RC Heli is good for beginners, though occasionally thier advice is questionable he is smart enough to own up to it in the next issue if he gets hammered about someting, suggesting a piston lock tool is one that comes to mind.
If you want good technical info without all the gloss Model Helicopter Technique is excellent as well. http://www.mht.net again, bi monthly.

Grab the magazine and enjoy it. I may be viewed as biased as I write for it, but I know for a fact that its Editor - Mike V. wants to please the readers, and loves the hobby. Tell him what you would like to see in it and if its reasonable - I am sure he will try his best.
Some of the people ripping on this magazine do not read it, or are friends/associated with other magazines, and thats OK - but it means also, take forum opinions with a grain of salt, including mine ;). It is fine to read all the heli mags out there - subscribing to one does not mean you cant enjoy the others too :D In the end, all these magazines are advertising this hobby to the world and helping people in it - all positive things IMHO.
Anyways, I think that RC Heli mag is on the right track (heck, its only on its 5th issue) and will bring new people into the hobby, and isnt that what we need???? The more people involved in our hobby - the more we can do and the more friends we can make, just my opinion.
Enjoy the magazine - whichever one you choose!!! - Jim

I love my RC Heli mag. Sure, I can get information on the net, especially this forum. I still like the magazine in my hands though. Just my opinion though.

I subscrib to RC Heli and I love it. I wish it they would publish more than 6 a year but that is in the works according to them.
