Heck, I made the decision that I want a GAUI 550 for my next heli, and half the places I've found don't have 'em anymore! If parts are being the same way, then I may have to re-think this direction.

Helidirect and GrandRC are both dropping the Hurri 550, but Readyheli will be continuing on. Word is she is undergoing a frame redesign from GAUI but I have no clue when the new version will be released. There are still plenty of online stores carrying the 550, Readyheli probably being the biggiest, but I have never seen an LHS that carries parts in-store, at least not in SoCal.

ahh a frame redesign would be cool, I guess that would explain why Readyheli stock isn't currently full . Though if things continue like this I may try to sell my Hurricane soon since I don't want to have to fight for parts if they aren't abundant..

allrc.com has some Hurricane flybarless parts. I was surprise that they even have the parts to modify the flybar head into a FL head. I bought the mod kit along with other stuffs last week.

My Hurricane is going FL :)

allerc.com, flying-hobby.com, readyheli.com, all have 550 parts and kits (readyheli is out of kits right now BUT, they have assured me that they are NOT dropping the 550 line).. if the OP thinks that not buying from his LHS will send a message, it sure will... it'll tell his LHS to stop carrying the 550 and then he'll be forced to buy online. allerc.com should ahve kits as well as flybarless heads.. yes, there is a going to be a frame redesign. I have nothing concrete, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't look similar to the 425 frame. which would mean a better battery mount..and hopefully a look at how to make the frame stiffer

anyone that was thinking of getting a 550... GET ONE.. it really is a great heli. it's very forgiving and very stable...

I really love my Hurri 550 because it has the wright size and weight to play with anywhere. It is forgiving and newcommers can learn within minutes to hoover so, I came with the subject meaning the WEB reseller and not really the LHS. Readiheli usually show the product with and "out of stock " notice under the product picture. The 550 does not show anymore, so you are trying to tell me that they are BO :thinking.
I checked most of WEB based Heli business and ? I am trying to figure it out.

Just an educated guess here: I'm willing to bet most sites are selling off the current kits and very soon we will see the Hurricaine V2 or whatever the "new and improved" model will be dubbed (552?). Almost everyone that still has kits in-stock have them on sale, they might just have the new models coming in just in time for the start of the season and want get the most for the current models.

I am not a pessimist heli owner but if there is something new comming ???:clappp
I would like to know and as you said KTBone: "New and Improved" would be nice.

Martin how do you know that GrandRC is dropping the 550? Did you talk to someone in that company. I spoke to them about two months ago and asked them if they were going to restock out of stock parts and they said yes. They did not say they were dropping the 550. anyway here is a list of online shops that sell parts for the hurricane 550

Helidirect, Flying-Hobby.com, 3Dhelidepot.com, GrandRc, Readyheli, Modefo's heli.com, RCdumbthumbs.com. I have just listed seven online dealers. right now parts are not a problem. Even if they were in the process of designing a new frame, Im sure most of the current parts will still fit the new frame.

I read it in another post. Can't remember which one, but same topic as this one. I'll try to find it later today.

I talked to a guy (don't know who) at GrandRC just before I ordered the $129 head asem'. about a week ago. That's when he said "when they're gone they're gone, we won't be restocking them. I don't know if he was talking about upgrade parts or all parts or what. That's all I've heard except for what has been said on this thread.

I don't think we are going to have any problem getting parts at all.

There were a bunch of blinged out 550's at the EFExpo last weekend. Talking to Jack Burnside, I think they are working hard to increase saturation at the LHS and online from what I heard. The CF Framed machines looked pretty sweet at the Empire R/C Booth at the Expo and the ones I saw Art Hughes, Bobby Watts, Kyle Stacy, Ray Stacy etc working on. Pretty sweet machines for the price for sure.

These are not from the Expo, but it is CF. I just got done moving most of the componants around...so...does anyone see ANY problem with where I've located everything?....like the RX location...BEC...etc.

Sorry the pix are so crappy...too much coffee (shaky);)

Anyway, here's a few....

flyextreme check the way you have the links on your pitch and aileron levers.it looks like your using the offsets on one side and a mixture on the other.you have the cnc elevator lever so you should be using the straight (upper i think) holes on both levers

One other small thing; if you turn your ESC around (sticker side toward frame) you will get better cooling. All the electronics that generate heat are on the other side, so is the indicator light.

That crossed my mind. I guess with the zip-tie I don't have to worry to much about the servo tape sticking....I didn't want to stick it to the label. I'll flip it. I just noticed that I need to pad the BEC wires that wrap around the edge of the frame....that edge is kinda sharp.

I guess I'll try to get some really good pix so you guys can tell me if screws are tight or if there's enough oil on the bearings or something like that.;)

Thanks, Bill

Thanks, I still have to install the new CNC head assem'....icing on the cake and all. You can clean your's up...just cut all the wires off of everything...they just clutter it all up.:YeaBaby:
