Pinion Issue

I'm running Scorpion motor with 12T pinion. I don't know pinion brand/source for the one I have, as I found it in my junk pile during build. Pinion appears normal except edges are very sharp. Bottom line, it is eating up my main gear. Can anyone give me source and specs for one that works? Thanks!

You need a .7 mod pinion. If the one you are using is not a .7 mod you should know it right away. It will sound horrible. If you are using the derlin gears you need o set the backlash really tight. It is tighter than any of my other helicopters. So there is a chance that you are using the correct pinion, but do not have the mesh set correctly.

Thanks, I'll try from source you referenced. The main gear issue is making me crazy. I've now chewed up three gears. First two I attributed to cold weather. This last one has me puzzled. And I've tried tight mesh with derlin, and slightly looser mesh with plastic gear. Yesterdays flights rock solid, purring like a kitten. Today about half way through first flight began to sound strange. Landed and found main gear being eaten up, gear mesh still seemed ok. Tossing pinion!
