View Full Version : Trex SE with Gy401/9650 needs very low gain to stop wag.

Hello all,

I am a new Trex SE pilot. I traded for the heli so I didn't build it and am having to climb the learning curve. I have been flying it OK, but feel that she is only 80% on as far as setup.

One thing that is suspect is that I have to run a very low gain in AVCS mode to stop the wags. For my GYRO function in my Futaba 8uaps TX the 50-100% range is the AVCS (HH) gain range. I need to run 55% to stop the wags. That translates to a 10% gain which sounds very low to me. Tail is a little sloppy, I get some drift, and even then with a fresh battery and resulting head speed it will do a little wagging.

I will be going through Finless' setup videos and doing the setup for myself this time. Any comments would be appreciated.

Try using a hole closer to the center of your servo arm, with the 9650 I had to drill a new hole as close as I could get to the servo w/o it hitting something.

I got a hole closer to the center and did the Finless Gyro setup. It turns out that the gyro was not set to "Digital Servo Mode" :bomb: . I changed that and now it is very much improved.
