On March 20, 09 at 6:00 pm yet another Outrage 550 took to the sky for the first time.

Rumor has it that it was the first Canadian Maiden flight of this fantastic heli by Team Outrage, with special consideration for Charley Stevens, the flight testers, and all Helifreaks that have went above and beyond to provide an aspiring newcomer with the benefit of their experience.

This Heli is the largest I have ever flown above a 450 scale, and my flying ability pales in comparison to the elite pilots here that I have come to admire and learn from.

As I spooled up the Rage for the first time, I was mindful of all that I had read on the forums, and have placed careful attention to those areas that have been identified as needing a little due diligence.

The six gentle sport flights I took with the 550 was the most exhilarating experience in the hobby to date. It was solid in its track, precise in its direction, flawless in its performance and forgiving for the awe struck pilot.

This heli is a dream to fly, and it will surely lend itself well to my learning curve ambitions as I explore the full potential of this well crafted, precision incarnation by Team Outrage.

Thanks all,

I may not be punchy with it at this time, but even these tame flights are a thing a beauty with this Heli.

Went for 4 more flights today. Was my first wind trials. The wind was 22 kmh with 33kmh gusts. Or 14 mph / 20 mph gusts.

Only the occasional light bounce was observed with the familiar push downwind. What surprised me was the headwind track. Simply amazing. With the 300 mm Flybar the heli did not have that usual pitch up tendency, rather it held the orientation. In fact I occasionally had to pull back just a hair or add a little more pitch / power to keep it from biting down in the head wind.

On my B400 in these wind conditions, that little (use to be huge) heli is bouncing all over the place and forget getting fancy with it. The 400 just gets tossed around, and the head wind passes are a struggle to keep pitched into the wind. It just wants to clime if I don’t keep constant forward cyclic.

The Outrage 550 was still able to loop and roll with minimal compensation. A very forgiving heli to fly.

Capi,

What’s the date of this event, I will see if it falls on a day I can calendar it.
A link to any relevant site of the event would be helpful also. ;)

This is the third session of flights with the 550.

It has the new Fusuno canopy onboard and looks great. Got to trying more stuff with the heli and made an attempt at my first Tic Tocs. Kind of rough first attempt. I need to work on technique and make a couple more adjustments.

All in all it was a great set of flights and I have compiled some of the highlights in the vid.

Any tips or pointers regarding tic toc's are welcomed

:)
