Hobby King just received some new 20C 3000mah 3s batteries that are 239g. $25! :banana

$50 for a 6s 3000mah seems like a very good deal! Only 20C, but this is probably good enough for most of us. I just placed my order for them.

3000mah 6s at 480g seems like a good setup for a Protos and I would imagine would strike a good balance between flight time and weight.

I saw them so I ordered a few, now I can put back them 2200 on my 450 again.

Too bad they don't already make a 6s... sometimes I have to think what are they on, LOL????

20C with 3000mah is 60AMP rated (good enough :) )
25C with 2200mah is 55AMP
25C with 2500mah is 62AMP

According to this thread in the Trex500 forum http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=122256 there are several 6s Flightmax 6s pack variations coming out mid April. 20/25/30C options ranging from 2500mah-3000mah.

If they are priced at around $50-$60 this could sell a ton of 500's.

I just ordered 14 A123 cells and bought a used 6s 2500mah Flightpower pack for cheap. Now I sort of regret it with these new 3000mah packs and the packs coming mid April. Would have been nice to have 4 of the same packs instead of the smorgasbord I have now. But at least I'll have an educated opinion on all the battery options out there.

I also picked up the 300W iCharger 1010B+ for the A123's so I can charge at 10A at the field. Hopefully I'll get ~15min charge times. :Bang

According to reviews and posts scattered on the web, flightmax aren't very good lipos as I recall. Not nearly as good as their zippy-H. But the price is really good though. :)

I have been wondering, is there anything planned for increasing the capacity in some of these lipos? Like, a 5000mah 6S lipo that is the same size as current 3000mah 6S packs...

ZIppy-H batteries are produced on the same line that builds Military spec LiPo's. So if you have an option always go with Zippy-H if possible.

A $50 3000mah 20C 6s Zippy Flightmax battery is just hard to beat. If I get 50 to 80 cycles of 7-8 minute flight out of them I'm still ahead of the TP $180 version. Batteries are consumables (well so are helicopters :happyd), and it's a great place to save money.

I can't seem to find the 3000mah 3S packs.

I found the 6S 3300mah. Does anyone know if this fits in the canopy?

Here's the link for the 20C 3s 3000mah $25 pack: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8851

Previous posters say the 3300mah fits OK, and it still weighs less then the 7sA123 packs.
