Is there a fix for the BIG POP I get when I plug the batts up?

Thanks for the pics..I was wandering if the Century pinion covered the whole length of the main gear teeth.. I'm ready to order a Mod 1 gear.. here is the last time out.. lost the main gear right at the end..
YouTube - Scott Glasgow V bar test flight
I have a Microheli gear on it now (mod 7) but i've been looking at a Mikado mod 1 herringbone gear and pinion... Good to see other options.. I have a pretty good stack of stripped main gears..:)

------------------------
New Data Log with Scorpion 500KV motor instead fo the 560KV.

16 tooth Pinion instead of the 14 tooth.

100% flat throttle curve, Idle Up 2.

Runs great, tached the Head at 2050 RPM.
It toned down the response on the cyclic a little but not much but its heaps better to fly then with 2230 RPM in the head.

Hovering at 20 Amps, still has plenty of Watts and no noticable drop in power in climbouts etc.
It seems to fly alot better with this motor with lower Head Speed, no complains at all.

Would probably be a little better with 17 tooth pinion but i am content for now.
Flight times also improved by at least 1 minute.
Motor cold, speedy cold, packs cold, its a great setup that should last.
No stripped main gears either as of yet so looking good, time will tell.

rc heli resource reports: NEW: Kontronik Jive 120+ HV

Shown for the first time last weekend at 3D Masters in Spain, Kontronik displayed their latest brushless speed controller offerings. The first is a Jive 120+ HV that expands on the very popular Jive 80+ HV that is used in many 600 and 700 electric heli’s.

me too! sorry but all i know is what rch posted in their news segment. that's it. no ETA that i know of.

i have a Jive 80+ HV on order at my LHS for my 600ESP, i'm building. and i cancelled the order on the other one, in lieu of the Jive 120+ HV. my 700E, i'm also building, can wait patiently for the 120+ HV.

Ok Towerhobbies ads $60 off last today but I didn't order Jive 80 HV today but I can wait for Jive 120 HV. I Just received frames from Chirs-Heli recently and K-Brushless 30-12 too. What about Hobbywing 120HV? I will build my 700e sooon.

my suzi-hans should come today. i'm running a Pyro 30-2 too.

i was thinking about a outrage 500. many of them were having bad luck w/ CC HV85s. some outrage guys were running the HW 120HV, i believe.

Nice Suzi-Hans Frames. Does someone use HW 120HV with pyro 30-12 for Trex 700E Chirs-Heli? HW 120 HV is little big size and cheap price than Jive 80 HV or 120 HV. What are difference with them?

i just did a search in the Outrage 550 forum on "hobby wing 120." HW is not for me.

all i know is Jives have a stellar reputation. as bullet-proof can be. my LHS guy swears by Jives as do most Jive owners. he puts it in everything he owns.

i'm thinking of a protos FBL. many protos owners swear by Kontronik ESCs too.

i feel Kontronik has as stellar a reputation in our hobby as any other manufacturer. so that's what i'll be going with.

good luck and flying w/ your 700E.

Thanks for advice! I will order K Jive 120 HV for my Trex 700 E. When It will be release. I have Trex 600 ESP and HW 120 HV but I didnt build it not yet. Should I use HW 120 HV for Trex 600 ESP? Im still working on Trex 450 but almost it soon.

Good luck your suzi-hans building and flying

HW 120 HV should be more than adequate for the 600 ESP. many trex 600 fliers are using the CC HV85. i'm opting for the Jive 80+ HV in my 600 ESP.

Im also having the same issue with my conversion using a 120HV CC controller and having the tail kick out on full collective inputs when running governor mode. Any of you who were having problems find a fix for this? Did running fixed throttle help?

Are you running the latest firmware with high gov gain?

The default gov gain in the latest firmware is to low and feels mushy / slow to respond.

what's a good charger/power supply to use on my 700E's, 2X5000 6S packs? thx in advance.

i was thinking of this: Hyperion EOS 0615I Duo III- Dual Port

i wanted the Cellpro 10S, but it will only do 2X5S, not 2X6S. i wish FMA Direct made a Cellpro 12S.

Yeah...newest firmware but the GOV mode im using is the one where you can set 3 headspeeds. The gov gain is now at 15 (default is 7) but ive tried everything from 7 up to 23 (at 23 gain i stripped a main gear when i punched collective - ESC wanted to rev up the motor faster than the rotor blades/main gear could keep up i suspect).

Sounds like you have two issue, governor and main gear.

Firstly, I would setup your governor to maintain a consistent head speed during hovers, gentle/soft climb outs and circuits. The default spool and head speed change rate should be ok. Once setup correctly, move onto the second issue.

Secondly, main gear stripping is not uncommon on T-Rex 700's, more so on electric due to the high torque and mod 0.7 gears. The only real solution is to upgrade to a mod 1.0 main gear and pinion, the stock mod 0.7 just can't deliver the torque from the motor to the blades.

Changing the esc setting to compensate for a mechanical fault will lead to poor / disappointing performance and more expense in repairs.

Umm... thanks for trying to be helpful but the second issue is entirely unrelated to the first (putting a mod 1 main gear on wont do anything to help a tail which kicks out during a hard/fast collective punch) and your advice to the first issue (the one i asked for help with) is also completely useless. Im not asking for general advice on how to setup a governor (I've been flying for 5 years & owned practically every heli worth owning thats been made in that time) im asking for very specific advice how to address a very specific issue with a CC 110HV ESC.

Not trying to be an ass here but your advice doesnt address my issue and just want to make it clear so that others will still chime in or you can give more specific advice if you choose. Please dont just assume im a newb who needs general beginner advice on setting up his heli.

No offense intended but only kind advice from another flier using the cc60, cc85HV & cc110HV in gov mode without any issues on a 6s T500, 12s T600 / 12s T700e with JR G770T & JR DS8900G in hard climb outs.

To be honest, if your looking for advise, ya have to be willing to accept constructive criticism.

Ahh now we are getting somewhere and now i see where you are coming from with the main gear issue being related because I see now that you have gain set to 25 while i have mine set much lower and at that high of a setting (as you) it stripped my main gear when i punched collective real fast.

All other settings are the same with the exception of one - motor poles. I guess you have the scorpion 630KV motor while i have the 560KV motor and i have mine set to 10 poles because this is what the website says it is where i bought it. Here is a link: http://www.innov8tivedesigns.com/product_info.php?products_id=355

There seems to be conflicting information on the web about these motors...some say 8 and others say 10 poles.

Just out of curiosity... did you notice ever that when you had gain set lower, your tail would kick out about 20-30 degrees on a full climb-out and then quickly recover? If so then indeed a stronger gear and higher gain is the route to go here (as you tried to state in your first post and i so rudely replied to).

My apologies for coming off a bit rough at first... i wasnt sure where you were coming from but now it makes more sense.

Tail servo is the newest futaba brushless (BLS 251 i think) and gyro is a CSM SL720 which i have many years of experience using and setting up. Also this was a perfectly running nitro machine with no problems before the conversion... the only thing changed is the conversion to electric so its for sure not a gyro/tail servo issue.

To confirm, I have experienced tail issues, due to a sudden loss in tail speed because of low governor gain.

Sounds like your ideal gov gain maybe as high as 25, but your main gear can't take the load, when your motor maintains the power.

With all that power, I think the mod 1.0 would be the way to go to prevent future gear stripping with an aggressive governor.

Hope it works out for ya...

Can i ask which firmware you are running? 2.00 or 2.12? Also i wonder if it makes any difference that im running a T700 and not a T600? It looks like max gain has gone from like 25 in 2.00 to 35 in 2.12 or maybe my memory is bad.
