Just a quick question, same as the 500, wouldnt you need to pin the boom on the 450 pro so that during intense piros, it didnt just shoot out? Its an established problem with the 500, wouldnt it mirror in the 450?

I would think so, and will be pinning mine when I get one for my 450.

what does it mean to "pin" the boom?
why is it necessary?
Thanks, Daniel

imagine pulling really hard on a belt driven heli on the boom, you wouldnt be able to pull it off because the belt holds it together, with a torque tube system, no such "looping" exists, so you could pull hard and the entire tail woudl just slide out. This mirrors the force of intense piros, the entire boom could just fly off, thus you "pin" it to the tail boom block (put a pin thru the boom)

Is it really necessary on a 450?, I mean its not like the 600's and 700's with their big, heavy boom's and tail units.
From what I understand, the process of pinning the boom is drilling a hole through the boom mount and boom and putting a small screw in (making sure it doesnt touch the TT) like this:

Is that corrrect?...........are there any other ways of doing it?
Thanks, Daniel

While it may not be completely necessary, it will be good insurance against a more costly crash IMO. Look in the T-Rex 500 forum area, plenty of info on pinning the boom.

The main thing with the position would be the gear mesh (tolerance) crashing would be a given when the gear kraps out!

Ive seen some vids of Bert and them really punishing the little Heli, stock standard. I am sure the boom would be ok.
