Folks,

Recently, I have had a couple people accusing me of sending them standard steel bearings when they ordered stainless steel. Their justification was the fact that the bearings were attracted to magnets.

The 440 stainless steel used in bearings is a Martensitic steel and is ferromagnetic! Here is a good basic reference for stainless steels:

Most people don't realize that different grades of SS have varying levels of Carbon in them. Straight grade 304 SS will attract a magnet where 304L grade will not. Most all of the 400 Series SS materials will attract a magnet to some degree.

Ship them with 2 mydol, that should curb the *****ing.
