I have the Microheli Precision tail unit. Early this week I discovered my tail shaft was slightly bent. I went onto GrandRC.com (http://www.grandrc.com/) to order a couple new shafts.
I knew Microheli has a titanium tail shaft for the T-Rex. Alas, the shaft is 4mm shorter than the Precision tail shaft (41mm vs 45mm). I decided it should be possible to use the shorter shaft without loosing much tail pitch range. So, I added the titanium shaft to the order.
Since I assumed the order would be the middle of next week, I decided to make my own 41mm steel shaft while waiting for the titanium shaft to come in. I spent a few hours making, installing, adjusting and testing the shorter tail shaft.
The dog let me know the post had arrived. I went and checked the mail and, there was an order from GrandRC. Oh crud, they got me the new titanium tail shaft in 2 days. This means, some of the time and effort I spent this morning was not needed.
Thanks GrandRC. Stop being so darn fast. :?
By the way, the shorter shaft works fine. Just remove one of the rubber O rings to get some extra throw. Don't remove both O rings or you can lock the tail all the way to one side. That will make for a challenging landing.
