Hey guys, i have a couple quick questions for you.
1. What is the easiest way to remove the pinion gear? Sounds dumb, but I am in the process of changing over to the less tooth count.
2. I noticed the starter shaft has a slight bend in it. Not sure if it was like that or if it bent in my last crash. Not sure how that could of got hit though. Is this something that should be changed, or is it normal.
3. How am I supposed to get the correct main pinion mesh with the main gear since there is a lesser tooth count?
Thanks guys,
If I dont hear anything Ill just give larry or Chris a call tomorrow.
Regards,
Larry

#2 How can you tell the start shaft has a bend? Or stated another way, what method are you using to check it?
If you loosen all of the bolts for the engine AND the 4 bolts for the triple bearing block, remove the 2 ea 4mm bolts that thread directly into the engine case, you can move the engine forward and aft.
Set your mesh, snug down all the bolts. Check your mesh again, adjust as necessary. Tighten all the bolts, loctiting the 4 bolts in the triple bearing block.
NOW install the 2 ea 4mm bolts, removed earlier. Instead of loctite, use Red RTV on the threads.

I can tell the starter shaft is bent because i removed it and rolled it on a flat surface.
Kind of weird, isnt it?
Its the shaft that is connected to the clutch bell housing. I think thats what it is called

Not unheard of, but the reason I asked, I have seen some people spin the clutch in the clutch bell without the triple bearing block and noticed the start shaft wobbling around where it pokes out of the pinion.
In this configuration, there's only 1 bearing supporting the shaft, so it's gonna wobble!!
To answer your question, the shaft is replaceable, but it's better to send it off to us to press the old one and press the new one in, insuring that it stays straight.

cool, ill be giving you or larry a call in the morning. In addition to the sttarter shaft I need a spindle shaft. I forgot to order one on last batch of parts.
Oh, one other thing. I took a close look at the tail box that came with the eb conversion parts. It appears the pitch slider on the tail box could of been pressed on backwards. I compared it to the stock intrepid one and the radius of the arms where the ball links attach are reversed. Does this make sense? Or am I just confused?
Thanks for checking in on this post.

The new one is assembled properly.
It gives a straighter shot from the pitch slider to the tail blade grips. Another Malorie idea.
Oh, and it's not pressed on, it's threaded with a left hand (backwards) thread.
