Anyone using the ultimate battery eliminator? I've used it before in a logo 20 and it worked great, how about with the Ion?

I have the UBEC in my Fury-Ionx and it works great. I would suggest running it off one battery pack only. It will reduce the voltage to 20v and allow it to run cooler.

Same as Skippy, works great!

So if you are going to run a ubec why cant you run the 35v verion if we are only going to run off one of the atomic bombs? is there a need for the 45v version?

Ivona showed today :)

FWIW, I've used the UBEC since pretty much day one in all the development of this heli. I use it just as prescribed above; HV version on one pack of cells... no switch. I think the lower voltage version would work just fine this way as well. It's just that I have from time to time used my UBEC's with full input (32 roundcells or 10 bagcells) and at those times am glad I had the HV versions.

Fine product.

How much does having the UBEC on one pack affect the voltage between the two packs? When you guys do get some variation, how do you bring them back to the same point? Would getting the HV version and wiring it to both batteries make more sense?

well i have no desire to run round cells so i will get the 35v version and go with it

thanks for the quick response

The voltage difference is very minimal, about .05-.1. This would only effect your batteries if you depleted them to the extremely low end. When charging you will only see a difference of about 150-200ma between the 2 sets of batteries.

It is nice to run of only one pack so you can boot the radio, radio set up and motor fan operation after flight without the motor circuit being complete. As Skippy said it only seems to take 150 to 200ma more out of the battery operating the UBEC and this is brought back to balance when you re-charge each battery back to full after flight. I went with the 45v UBEC so I would be covered in the future when we might be using higher voltage or different pack configurations; you never know what might come along.

so i m installing the 35v version does it matter which side i solder it too? the red/black pair i would assume?

Hi Kev,

That’s the side I used, but you can use either side, just make sure the polarity is correct

I just put one in my ION and it works fine. Really nice not to worry about the rec. pack. :D I like it.

Anybody tried UBEC with 35mhz radio ??

I think the 35 Mhz doesn't make any difference for performance. Here in Holland 35 Mhz is special reserved for flying stuff, and I see lots of people using a Ubec on their plane/heli.
