Help!! adjusting my pitch machanically to have +10/ -10 . and plan on using my TX to adjust to th typical -1/+9 with 3/4 stick hover...but for some reason i can not get more than +10/-5 machanical.what am i missing :arggg:
I adjusted for + 10 first with the small rods and then with the long rods on either side of the rotar head / blade arm. made sure the collective moved completely up and down. I get +10/-5. is this hawk II! not capable of this . the instructions are not clear on this point.... help!!
Thanks in advance Jeremy

I had a Hawk Sport... which is the fifth Hawk version. There is now a Hawk Pro (#6).
I was able to get +/-13º on my Hawk Sport. The bell-hiller mixer, on the main blade grips, had a long ball and a short ball. Remove the long balls and substitute short balls. (You'll have to buy them as I don't expect they included spares in the kit.) This should give you a bit more pitch travel. ...at a cost of precision.
If you are a beginner, +/-9º is really plenty to work with. Don't go out of your way to force it to 10º.
If you are an experienced heli pilot, I would set it up for +/-9º for Normal and Idle-up modes... and try to get -9º +12º for throttle hold.

Jeremy,
Can't remember for sure, but if your Hawk has the 8mm mainshaft, it may not get the pitch range you are looking for. The 8mm mainshafts in the earlier Hawks was shorter and that is the reason the pitch range was shorter.
The way to get the setup for maximum pitch range is to start at the collective servo, and with it at center of travel, install the output wheel so the ball is at the top forming a 90 degree angle with the rod and the center screw. Then adjust the rod to the collective arm so the collective system is in the middle of it's possible travel. Then adjust the rods from the aileron servo and elevator servo so the bellcranks are at 90 degrees to the mainshaft. Now adjust the rods from the aileron bellcranks so the swash is level. Then adjust the rods from the swash to the bell mixers so the blade grips and blades are at 0 degrees pitch. Basically, you are setting up center stick for 0 degrees pitch, and then you can see how much pitch you can get either side of zero.
Thanks mark, but I am going to try steve's suggestion first .
Thanks steve I,'ll try that .. let you know.
Steve thanks again reworked everything like you said it all looks good on the bench -9/-9 total colective but set up as a beginner in normal mode. Goin to test it tommorrow let you know.
