After flying the mars around for a few weeks now I noticed the tail servo would sometimes twitch out really hard and throw the bird into a piro or 180? I thought I may have binding somewhere on the tail control rod so made sure everything was in good shape and flew a dozen more packs with no problem. Suddenly today it does it again I was able to "land" in some snow with minimal damage, but what is the deal?...:arggg:
I know things have been set-up right...preforms flawlessly one flight, and freaks out the next?

My Mars hasn't encountered this issue (yet), but I'm working on the same issue with my Mini Titan. I'll be ripping around the sky and suddenly I'll lose the tail during a hard banking turn. At first, I suspected the gyro - but now I'm wondering if my tail speed is dropping-off too much when I gun the throttle in the turn. Like with you, it doesn't happen all the time - but what a wild ride when it does.
I have managed to regain control but I sure would have churned the dirt if this happened in my earlier days.
In both helis I'm flying:
AR7000
GY401/S9257
2200mAh 25C

I've saved her 3 out of 4 times, but in FFF with banks it's tricky for me to recover. I'm kinda a newbie but can throw my birds around with confidence. Sometimes before I "fly" I'll power her up and slap her around really hard trying to make the tail kick out, but so far it only happens when I don't expect it. Also the 5083 makes a quiet "grumbling" sound when on, like it's binding, but it is not binding... is this normal for digital servos?

Well after looking further into this I believe the problem is my tail pitch control rod is to flexable. It bows between guides then snaps the bottom of the guides off, but only in hard tail inputs. So the solution would be a stiffer tail control rod or mount more guides on the boom preventing any flex.
