View Full Version : 14MZ using 149DP & GY601

Hi all,
I just recently got myself a 14MZ and I'm using it together with the G3 receiver in my own R90 with GY601. When using this combo, 37% in the Gyro menu corresponds with 37% gain on the gyro.
Now the strange thing. I was programming my dads R90 into my 14MZ and I found that I didn't get the same gain on the gyro as was to be seen on the 14MZ. I need to use 62% in the gyro menu to get the 37% gain on the gyro amp.
I just copied the program and triple checked everything, but I can't figure out what the difference is. The only difference between those helicopters is the receiver, 5014DPS versus 149DP, the latter giving the different reading on the amp.
Could someone please shed some light on this??
Also what would be the normal range for GY401 on this 14MZ, or is 55% in the gyro menu good.... as it is on the 9CHP?
Cheers,
Richard

Were all the options between the 601's the same, particularly the operating mode? Gain value will different from setup to setup, model to model, radio to radio; what's right in one case may or may not be right for another.

I am going to take a guess.
Since 62% in the transmitter equates to 37% gain on the Gyro screen.
I would think the gyro channel in the transmitter is reversed. It would need to be set opposite of what it is now.

Make sure your channel assignments are correct, the channels are different with the G3 and the 149. You will have to change the radio program to assign the right channels for the 149, or change the order the channels plug into the 149. There is a graph in the 14MZ instructions to the way Futaba recommends, but I have seen people plug them in how they want and just change the channels in teh radio.

Like I said before, the model is normally flown with a 9CHP so I used that channel assigments. I got the correct channel, because the gain changes on the amp when I change it in the Gyro menu.
The strange thing is that the % in the Gyro menu does not correspond with the % on the Gyro amp. With the G3 receiver the % DOES correspond with the % on the Gyro amp.
I was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same... if so, I don't have to worry. If not, I'm doing something WRONG!
Thanks again for all the suggestions, keep 'em coming!
Cheers,
Richard

My guess is that DavidH is correct, that for some reason the channel is reversed.

I run g3 and a 319 and had no problems % match perfect. check the gyro amp box and make sure all settings are the same. As the servo rev. as David said.

I tried to reverse the Gyro channel, that didn't change a thing... strangely enough.
I will try it again, Rodney's post is telling me that I AM DOING SOMETHING WRONG!! :arggg:
Thanks!

FYI on my Vibe I am running the 149 with my 14mz and a 601. I do not have this problem and get 36% when the gyro menu says 36%. Then later I even changed to the G3 channel assignments still using my 149 (which did improve CCPM interactions BTW). Same thing... Gyro menu matched when the 601 says.
I cant remember but I think there is a setting in the gyro that has something to do with this not matching.....

I'm so dumb!
I somehow got the ATV of the gyro channel down to 80%. This was causing my problem...
